Hi Guys

Having owned a Rover Tomcat for the best part of a decade & making composite parts for them, I now also own a ZS to compliment the Tomcat.

I was just checking out what parts you guys would like to see & if there would be much interest. Parts currently under the spotlight for potential moulding are -

Custom spec rear wing - Lightweight Carbon Blade
Custom Front splitter - No bumper mods required
Carbon Tweeter mounts
Carbon Mirror Caps
Composite Bonnet

And various small items in the engine bay

Cheers

Johnny

Engine bay on mine needs some serious tlc. What you got?

Mirror caps would be good - could also suit the ZR as they use the same mirrors.

Also engine covers - same as above for the 4 pot K series.

May be interested in tweeter rings.

However the rear spoiler is a bit of a pain to split so it is quite commonly wrapped.

Cheaper yet similar to the clio 192 splitter option for mk2's.
That would be awesomesauce

BTCC style front splitter would be good

Hi Guys

I have sourced what i need so i can get on with a few bits for now.

maxtherotti - Mirror caps & Tweeter Rings will probably be around £30 each per pair delivered. If i can get a run together of 10 this will come down too as it is easier for me to run off a number of them from the mould in one go & finish them together before getting another mould & part out to work on. Space is the main problem here as well as time.

tcb180 - There are various brackets + OEM spec parts will be things like battery & fuse box covers, Wiper blade spoiler etc. Cutom parts will be radiator shroud & air deflector, TD Turbo heat shield.

talkingcars - ive done the K series cam cover as my Tomcat has the VVC enigne, but still being tested to be sure it can handle all the temps & pressures etc. Taking a while as had to test the moulds then the actual part itself in real world conditions.

Rear Spioler shouldnt be too much of a problem. I dont know whether to do just a new blade or the whole thing at the moment - depnds on what you guys think, if the inserts are a pain it may be easier to do the whole thing with modifeod mounting to make it easier to dissasemble & reassemble. I am working on a different type of wing that will fit the original mountings but with different side rails & blade - Not a barn door though!

Front Splitter - I will have to get some pics of the BTCC one to get a better idea of what is wanted, same for the Clio one. The idea i had was not too crazy as i didnt want to drastically change the style of the car but just play on the standard lines. The splitter would mount over the top of the lower centre section on the std bumper & come out towards the front & down - but not too low with small integral vents under each front spot light & flared back into the bumper where it meets the front arch so it doesnt make the wheels look smaller than they are.

I would be happy to pay £30 for the mirror covers in carbon
And the tweeter holders too (assuming here that it will replace the oe mount)

Spoiler could be of interest too price dependant of course

Cheers Rob

At that price I'm up for the tweeter rings and mirror caps.

Personally I have C/F engine cover on my 180 but was thinking of what others may want.

What sort of price could you make one of these for.

Even if it isn't carbon fiber!

Would be good if it was modified to loose the dual exhausts.

I agree, I'm not planning on running a dual outlet system, so will need to re work the l/h hole.

Id be in for the diffuser too... (One hole only?)

And front splitter

Hi Pete

Do you know rough dimensions as price revolves around the amount a materials required,if its a dual construction or not & the mounting type.

I can modify the original part to have any number of outlets & whatever shape you fancy - i think that would look pretty sweet with a twin centre exit exhaust.

I'll get some measurements tomorrow, and I agree 100% about the centre exhaust.

Couldn't be bothered waiting for tomorrow, it's 118cm x 82cm.

Oooh now you're talking! Plenty of room behind a salon bumper to hang one too! Time for some photoshopping.
Which I'd do if I still had it :)

Ok as a rough estimate looking at that size i would say somewhere around £80-£100 tops. The type, number & shape of exit wont really matter as i would mould the diffuser in 1 piece then modify as per your exact application, that way you get exactly what you want & as a one piece unit will maintain the parts integrity. Price would be lower but the material cost goes up a lot when over 1 metre wide. Also depending on how many are required we can drive the cost down as i can press the supplier on cost too.

petet16
13-05-13, 09:01 PM
I'd be very tempted at that sort of price, I need to check out the feasibility of a centre exit exhaust as I think the spare wheel well might cause a problem with routing.

There might be quite a few takers for these diffusers, they fit the mk2 rear bumper really nicely.

I'm thinking of selling the original plastic one on now.

Looking at that picture reminds me of something -

There is an engineering company who can do some awesome stuff including one-offs & is currently machining solid alloy power steering caps, along with other stuff for the engine bay.
When i get mine next week ill post some pics up for you.

At that price I'm well up for one I also don't mind guinea-pigging for the centre exhaust maybe with a Megane style shape exhaust.
Civic triangle shape.
Triple exhaust ala-F458 haha
The styles could be endless!
One on each gap.
I need to get photoshop up and running again tomorrow!

That carbon fiber engine cover looks nice. Bit shiny for my liking but nicer than the original!

Ok guys. Give me a week or 2 to get the first parts moulded & a prototype built aso i can get some pics on here of what they are going to look like.
I will put some pics up on the "Owners Cars" area of my Z & the Tomcat & some of the goodeis that have been made previously. I recently ordered all new badging for the Z as the old ones has faded & gone nasty & they are REALLY heavy for a badge - would anyone fancy super light carbon underprinted badging??

As i side note i think the zs and later zt,s use the same mirror caps (and zr too) so that could seriously widen your audience for them

Im on the 75&zt owners club could post a link across if you wanted?

I'm getting one anyway. But will now wait for the diffuser before getting a custom as I was just gonna go full janspeed manis-backboxes. Now I'll see what can be done underneath.

Been tried and photographed on Zs Facebook page.
Looked utter utter utter utter *****, the car is not styled like the evo so was right up there with Carlos fandango wheels lol.
