Hi Some of you might have seen my ZS in the members cars but i thought i would put it in here as will be having alot of posts soon.
Abit of background:
I got the car about 2 months ago now for £370 with no mot or tax. got the car through a mot with just buying a lamber sensor and some brake pads.
Ive not done much to the car yet as not had the money too do so but im just collecting parts at the moment.
My plan is to vvc it in a couple of weeks, last week i got my self a 160 vvc with a converted loom for the ZS for £170 with a new HG,cambelt, water pump but need to find a 160ecu and inlet then get a 180 front splitter and spoiler and refurb the wheels.
Ive cleaned up the engine ready to go in just need the last bits and hope it goes to plan. Anyway i'll put up some pics for you to look at.

Cool project.

I was looking at body kitted mk2 120's with the view to either VVC or K4 tubby but then my mk2 came up.

Bargain, great looking motor.

Sounds like a lot of work, good luck with the engine swap.

We have a 160 vvc TF, they do go well!!!

Thanks for the luck think im going to need it lol.It dont look to much work really going to use the gearbox in the car(not sure what box ive got) so may have to swap the flywheels over for it to run.

Just waiting for some cheap 160 parts to come up then i'll be getting it ready to go in so hopefully soon!

I love mk1's in xpower grey. Looks a good project.

I've always got cheap 160 parts :) let me know what you need.

I'm considering selling converted looms for this type of conversion as I've seen a couple now that look like a 3 year olds made them!!

Yeah the loom ive got has been done pretty good i'll upload a pic tomorrow of it.

All i need is the Ecu and inlet then should be ok to go in.

It would be easier to drop engine and box in one go and unless you want a car that runs high revs at cruising speed, uses more fuel and has a misreading speedo you'd be better off with the box and engine matched.

No that's wrong advice.

Final drive is 3.9 on the 120 box and 4.2 on the vvc box. Cruising speed revs would be lower. Also speedo will read the exact same as you aren't changing the speedos gear ratio. The plastic gear is the same on both boxes.

Also most economical way of swapping those engines is leaving gearbox and shafts in car.

:sorry: I was basing my info on my experiences with T16 conversions.

If you're still after an inlet this may be of interest:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-MG-ZR-1-8-160-complete-inlet-manifold-throttle-body-injectors-fuel-rail-/281106535679?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3 D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D7791141560936752130%26pid%3 D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D281106535679% 26

Tempted to stick in an offer myself just for the throttle body:hmmm:

Not done much lately but the other day the clutch gave up so thought it would be a good chance to swap the engines over!
Got the engine out today just waiting for the clutch to come then the VVC can go in!

Not up dated this for a while, The VVC is in a running Just it needs coils and camshaft sensor as its running rubbish and limited to 5,900rpm so there on there way, but its a big improvement on the 1.6 just cant wait to have it running its best. here's the latest photos ive got with the engine in but not with everything on.

Looking good but you need to get rid of that heated air intake.

P1521 = Variable Intake Solenoid #1 Circuit Malfunction

You've already done quite a bit of work to make an almost unique car, rather than sell why not do a conversion, underneath they are the same car.

Thanks,Yeah i still need to fit the standard air box just need a new filter then that can go back in!

Thanks for telling me what the code is. It's weird that im getting that as the VVC is working fine ?

Yeah i would love to do the conversion but not sure if i can aford to do so as it might be cheaper to get a mk2 ?
