View Full Version : Wrapping Time...options

Well I have told and eluded to this for some time. I want a white ZS as they are a rarity and white is the new black!

I now have enough white and black carbon fibre vinyl to wrap the entire car. I know not everyone will like it but hey ho.

The point of this thread is to consider and discuss my options on the black bits.

I have seen a few pics of white ZS's, thanks to Jason04r for a couple of pics too but can people source as many white MK2 ZS's as they can and post them?

I am thinking tht the black carbon sections could be, but not exlusive to:

Roof
Wing Mirrors
Side Vents
Front Splitter
Bonnet
Boot
Spoiler (all or part)

What are peeps opinions on this. It will defo be majority white with black to accent it....?

Bear in mind, my rear lights are black tinted, no red visible and I have black wheels with a chrome lip.

Here are a couple of pics I was sent by Jason04r

The first pic looks outstanding, I think that was pearlescent white.

With white being so rare, I'd limit the black to be honest.

Maybe wing mirrors, centre of the front splitter and to be honest - I'd stop there. Then black wheels.

If your going to do black accents I would say go with the vents but leaving the surround white still, wing mirrors, front lip centre, and centre of spoiler.
If going Black on the roof I would leave the mirrors white as it may start being a bit too much. The little bits will make a bigger impact I think

Sorry - I don't think white suits the ZS.

This is how my car is at the moment and its too "chavy". Black alloys with everything else white looks really good.

I'm going to change these eventually but instead of a re-spray or wrap , i think i'm going to try this Plasti Dip . Something you can do from home with good results. Can even be peeled off if you fancy a change

I think the very 1st picture looks the best as its not pure white and seems a different shade... i wouldn't do the bonnet, roof maybe... I cant make my mind up about the vents would need to try and seem if you liked it

Go for a proper paint job in white instead of wrap, panel gaps and edges will look crap with wrap.
That first pic of the pearl white is stunning, seen it before and look's great
The Black and white ZS saloon that kicked about Glasgow for a while looked great too, was proper paint and not wrapped.

I'm in this camp too to be honest, but hey - you wanna give it a go and have already got the wrap, I'm sure it'll turn out well as you seem to be a perfectionist ... !

RJ54 above looks awesome IMHO

Looking forward to seeing this progress, i'm sure it'll be good when done and as you do it it'll all fall into place as to how it will end up.

White carbon fibre look wrap will look messy & dirty real quick,
I asked Dazza about this as an option when looking to do the motorbike
in his experience with wrap that is what he said.
so if you do wrap in white I would suggest just plain instead of the carbon.
Maybe ask Dazza first and see if he has advice or can supply you with what you need.

I wouldn't wrap a car myself and I've been in the game 10 years!

Why?

Why?

Because its a proper pita, expensive and time consuming. I've done plenty of work vans, coaches, cars ect but never a full wrap. Plasti dip is the way forward.

would plastidip be durable enough with stonechips to the front then jetwash to clean it? wouldn#t this lift the plastidip (which is usually not keyed to the paint) like it does the naff paint some smart repairers use (which is keyed to the paint)

Yes , Its all down to the amount of layers you put on.

There's a couple of videos about this on youtube , guy using a air compressor to fly stones into the bumper.. No damage what so ever ..

Front splitter, side vents and rear spoiler, gives you a little touch of black but not to much.

I knew there would be ayes and nays lol! Firstly to address the respray. Not going to happen. I'm not spending the value of the car to make it white. I have acquired a fair bit of decent white carbon vinyl cheaply so will be using it!

Yes the carbon will get messy quicker than plain, but the point of it is to disguise slightly the dings on the bodywork that were there when I bought the car. Plus, I kinda like it so there :P

As for black accents. My serious consideration to compliment my black wheels and rear lights was to do the front splitter, roof and centre of rear spoiler in black carbon, which I also have loads of! Nothing else. Will this be too much or just right?

And cheers guys for all opinions and pics etc.

And I did consider other colours (orange and green specifically) but have always wanted a white ZS so if I get bored in a years time or the vinyl starts to tire, I can happily go for another colour wrap.

I photoshopped mine a while back as I was playing with a couple of ideas.
