What's this for .. Fuel pump maybe? It seems to be the only thing I'm missing ..

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t409/onemanarmy0001/IMG_20130827_202811.jpg[/URL]

And clearly I have the wrong plug ..
http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t409/onemanarmy0001/IMG_20130827_202758.jpg
Would it just be a case of chop and splice correct plug on?

Thats the crank sensor plug in your hand is it not ?? would stand to reason as to why you have no spark.

The top pic is the charcoal canister.

The plug in your second pic looks like the oe boost modulator plug.

Din

It goes right down the back on the gearbox adaptor plate.

The other bit is the charcoal canister, it should have a plug also.

petet16

Or it might on the other hand be the crank sensor:laugh:

The only reason i say crank sensor is its the only one i can think of thats got all that metal shielding around it.

Nope, thats the speedo drive, the V6 doesnt use that because it reads from one of the abs sensors.
Crank sensor is on the back of the adaptor plate.

This is a K series, but its in the same place.

Your looking for the flywheel sensor in that pic.

Edit... thats got to be one of MG Johns photos, just seeing the silver monteago turbo and possably a Ti to the other !!

Loose connection on the loom?
Battery?
Immobiliser?
Fuse? (My ZR went dead and it was a blown engine bay fuse)
Bad earth?

(Don't know anything about the t-series or the conversions only guessing!)

onemanarmy0001

Think all of those r cover .. Will double check. I know I don't have the best earth .. Will sort that first .. Any more ideas would be great

Sounds imobilizerish... Have you had your ecu reverted to factory settings.

petet16
28-08-13, 06:34 PM
Do you have a spark, and fuel ?, if you're not sure about the earth try a spare jump lead from the engine to a good earth on the body.

Now my remote don't work the alarm or central locking .. When I put key in pos 2 I get beeps press button and it stops .. Just won't flash lights and work lock as it did yesterday .. Oh and still won't fire for more than a sec

Agreed, hence the ecu question.

Done nothing to ecu .. Thus is not the 2 car its been into ... It was working yesterday .. Just no spark... And had alarm earlier

My immobiliser does that intermittently, it will crank but won't fire.

onemanarmy0001
28-08-13, 08:25 PM
OK who knows know the immobiliser work.. What does it stop? Ignition? Fuel pump? ..Cuz I've had the injectors out and they not injecting .. When I turn the key I can hear the pump priming then first turn I get fuel (explains the almost firing) but then nothing ... Is this defo immobiliser or could it be something else

If it's immobilized it won't turn over, it'll just make the beeping noise.

So it primes which gives you enough fuel to fire then no fuel !, odd one, how much fuel is in the tank?.

It does sound like the immoboliser.
Battery may also be low causing the locking problems.
Until you get it starting just lock the car with the key in the door.

Which ECU are you running?

To check fuel can you jump a fused wire from the battery to the fuel pump?
(If it is an early mk1 there is a cover under the boot to acess the pump).

yes i get 1 squirt and then nothing,, and i put a can full in ,about £8, the needle has moved off empty above red line, , when i touch the earth to what i assume is priming the pump ,, i can hear it ,,

after a tryin the button on fob 50 times i gave up , put it down after a while i went back to it and it works,, but then stopped after a few times, but im not getting the beepin now when i put key in,, battery is slowing being drained tbh with all the cranking ,,, i dont know what ecu it is , came with the engine from the 620ti i think, is silver box with 1 plug if that helps

Once the ZS tank is empty it takes about 20 litres to get it working again regardless of what the gauge says, you need more fuel in there.

Also stick the car battery on charge so it's full.

Finally get some new batteries in the FOB.

20 litres ? really,, i assume it can run dry tho? so another 15 litres or so and try again,, will try the others,,

everyone else had that same problem if u run out of fuel?

and i take it no one i really looking to the ecu or immobilizer now?

The 20 litres when you rum out is a common problem.

Might also be worth checking that the fuel cut out switch hasn't been knocked.

My bad before, it does just beep! Doesn't crank!
It did it just then on a dash to the shop haha!

My ZR ran dry and it took 15l for it to start priming properly, I also had to crack the nut on the fuel filter to bleed it And press the fuel switch thing.

You do realise the 620ti ecu won't work unless the ecu has been decoded... In a ti the engine ecu is paired with a valeo unit that reads a chip in the key.
The zs has a 5as alarm ecu that sends the signal to the ecu via pin 13 to allow the engine to run.

The ecu is expecting a signal from its transponder key, it's not getting it, hence the engine won't start.

Send the ecu to best of British, they will decode the ecu and send it back to you, it basically reverts the ecu to factory settings and it will work on anything.

Din

If the fuel cut of switch was knocked it would not even prime.

As always . good advise .. Spoke to best of British.. They agreed completely .(with Din)  Hope for quick turn around on this.. As I'll be sitting waiting outside while they do this for me .. In the meantime I should put my injectors back in and might as well put the manifold on that says turbo.. Its yellow at the moment . I'm thinking red ..

Mine runs well as it is so long as I leave the 02 sensor unplugged... But yeah, once done it will run fine :)

Mine has a fault in the ecu for the front sensor, cars with a t series only ever had one sensor.

The zs has 2, this was a 2000/2001 addition to meet what ever euro emissions standard at the time.

The second one is after the cat, it is only there to moniter the condition of the cat, it does nothing for fueling etc.

So with yours running a t series with a ti ecu, you don't need a second o2 sensor.
