As we had one for last year I thought I'd start a new one for 2014.

I only have a micro list at the moment.

The exhaust fabricated to suit the Clio diffuser.

180 belts - carried over from last year.

I expect a few other things might end up on the list in time.

get the air con sorted.
pick up the ZS from Matt
get the turbo swapped for a VNT unit + new downpipe to suit
change injectors to suit new turbo
get it remapped (again)
probably change springs for progressive ones

Possible
get custom exhuast manifold to suit new turbo
try and get some money back from the stage 2 hybrid and 'wingy' downpipe once new ones are fitted.

then get some miles on the car and maybe go on some track days at the end of summer... but that all depends on the turbo and the rate we can get all that sorted.

2013 has been a mixed year but finally got it up to scratch. However 2014 is a case of looking at:

Rebuild my Torsen B gearbox and fit it.
Get the rear wheel arches tided up and resprayed or wait until the BTCC kit comes to fruition.
Fit the alcantara seats.
Front adjustable arms.
More importantly enjoy it and attend some events.

Since it is in for a full paint job right now I can work on a few little details:

- Fit Projectors to 400 headlights
- Fix little niggles with custom LED taillights
- Redo roof and sunroof material
- New tyres all around
- Upgrade sound system
- Battery relocation
- Wire in the fitted rear electric windows
- Tint Windows
- Tidy up the new washer system
- Clean and paint calipers
- Fiddle with settings between diesel pump and boost controller to get it just right
- Finally a full detail inside and out and photoshoot

Other than the tyres, sound system, and projectors, it is a bunch of small stuff but will most likely take me till March/April to get through the entire list but it is coming along oh so well!!! :D I will update my build thread soon hopefully...lol.

I've got no plans for the car this year. Going to be focused on finding a Grad scheme and sorting a house.

Will be selling the ZS as we're leaving Germany. Did consider taking it home with us but a bit much hassle with it being a left hooker. As yet our next destination is unsure, but if it's the UK will be buying a MK2 180 and if NZ will be keeping an eye out until any ZS comes up for sale. If it's Sweden, buggered if I know.

But if we are heading back to NZ first priority will be finishing my MGF rally car, been buying bits the last few months but still to finalise a competition hard top and cams (likely Piper BP300H).

Don't bother mate - get it done ...;)

TX motorsport in Harlow where I had my exhaust sorted mess about with Vauxhalls .... most of their homepage and gallery photos feature modded VXs - including a 500+bhp Astra.

Yes but these 1.6 units have a habit of melting the 4th injector.

Plan is now mainly related to drying out the MK2

See what the engine is doing, if fixable then it'll stay as it is engine wise.
If it is fully kaput then the mk1 will be a donor with added extras:
Piper BP270H (think they're the right ones) with Verniers.
Belts done while the engine is out.
And add on some janspeed manifolds (unless something better can be done)
Add in a lightened flywheel and LSD.
Renew the engine bushes while its out, I did think about poly bushing them but didn't want to increase NVH into the cabin.
Remap I think at a place in Cumbria called JDM dyno heard good things about them.

All the while the mk1 will be stripped for parts and shell scrapped. Hopefully wont need to come to this though.

I'll get the interior out and try to dry it out and tidy up some bits in there:
Add some deadening material to the floor pan, roof and a/b/c pillars and bulkhead if I can get to it and seal up any holes that aren't used to stop road noise getting in!
Then following that put a thin layer of sound proofing foamy stuff before putting the carpet back in.
Gonn be a busy time getting it back and sorted on the road.

Well its the new year and we normally experience breakdowns before christmas. The last two years have been slipped cam belts on two seperate Vauxhall 1.8 units and weather was not too disimilar to what it is now. Rain Rain and more bloody Rain!

We realised it is also a time when we tend to purchase our cars too. The Astra Gte was a December 21st purchase 5yrs ago. The Astra 1.7 Diesel Estate was this time last year and the wrx Scooby this time two years ago. Unfortunately the latter still remains in bits after two garage let downs so guess what?

Yep! Bought another one yesterday and picking her up tomorrow. W reg uk spec turbo which is totally unmolested and comes with just 83k on the clock. She is a beaut tbh.

Mot for 10 months new belts a while ago was dry stored for 6yrs of its life and covered around 11k by current keeper. Recent new clutch too and all work carried out by garage where I did my time.

All for £1,700. Another joint enterprise between the lad and I.

will post up some pics later.

Anyone want to buy a 1994 wrx with stripped engine plus loads of new parts?
