If it carries the MG badge it should at least have a model in the range that looks quick and goes quick! A nice V6 with full bodykit and big wheels, not these euro boxes with a fast badge! Not for me.

A tenth of the mileage and a 25% smaller engine will attract many.

We've all been spoiled with a great car that is the ZS. The ZS resided at the cheap end of the market, the same as most MG's and until the last 2 generations the MG saloons have never been blessed with big engines.
The only unMG thing about the 6 is that it isn't pretty, oh, and I wont be buying one.

There ment to handle really well ! Plus are a good spec.
I think they look great in the flesh. Better than most things on the road these days.

For that price I would really think about it as a run up to work and back car.saving my zs for future classic car glory.

They drive very, very well. The one thing that impressed me right from when I did the press launch back in 2011 was the chassis.

Dynamically it's very good - credit to Andy Kitson and the team in Birmingham (the same people who did the ZS' suspension) it's comfortable but also great over a B-road. You can't say they're bad to drive.

It's not perfect though - the clutch is far too light and I didn't really like the gearbox.

The diesel, on the other hand, is brilliant. Superb gearbox and a nice fat torque band. It feels really rather sporty - it's a cracking motor.

The insides a bit bland, but its a car with an awful lot to offer. Would I buy a petrol? Probably not. A diesel? In a heartbeat. You can read my week with the MG6 diesel in the current MG Enthusiast by the way :cool2:

I dont get this hate for the MG6, I love the car, even if I did break the interior on one of the very first at Goodwood.
having driven one I think its a good car and if in TSE spec a lot of car for the money, In fact I may look at buying one soon, I have seen a TSE in white I like the look of alot, where else can I buy a car that size with all the goodies, not that old and with less than 10k on the clock? for under 8k?
I showed that grey one to a mate who had his lexus is250 se-l written off by a lorry last week and he is tempted to go view it.

we all know that these MG's are not the real thing but that does not make them a heap of ****. badge snobbery coming into play here. its an MG but not an MG who cares?

BMWs are hugely overated for what they are, they still go wrong as often if not more than any other brand of car, that car, that still has fairly high mileage, if its not had brakes done will likely all need done soon, parts arent cheap and lets not forget its out of warranty now at 4 years old.

Some people don't like the 6, it's as simple as that, back in the 80's the triple M MG's were sneered at by the dyed in the wool MG enthusiasts but are now accepted as bona fide MG's.

Nothing to do with the badge on it, could have a McLaren or Ferrari badge on it, wouldn't make it a nice looking car in my eyes. Saw one on the road not long after they were released and just thought it was so boring.

I still find that a lot of folks don't accept the Triple M's as MG's but do include the Zeds.

Really, I thought all that nonsense with the triple M's not being proper MG's was in the past, obviously some prejudices die hard.

They are **** cars. Terrible build quality, poor finish and ugly as sin. Look at them from the side - wheels and windows too small for the enlarged door area. Crap after sales support. Yes there are warranties and garages, but getting parts to complete the repairs are a different story. Wouldn't touch one.

Sorry to say but the 6 isnt and wont be an MG, its a rebodied attempt at a new chinese car the Roewe 550 from which it comes from is utter rubbish too.
As the Zed range did have different bits to MG them, the 6 has nothing except for the MG badge it wears, I may speak out turn, but its true............I'll get my coat!

That old chestnut! People have said the same of the MGB, because it was a monocoque, and the Maestro, Metro and Montego, and the Zeds. Infact, of pretty much every new MG that's come out.

Some will like it, some won't. Such is life. One thing I will say is that I think it's a good thing that there are still new MGs being built. Better that than the name go the way of Austin, Morris, Rover, Riley, Wolseley, Triumph, Hillman, Singer etc...

Oi! Triumph Motorcycles are still around :P lol

As for the 6... I prefer the look of the Magnette and would only consider the Diesel, but still much to expensive for me to consider buying one!

Over the years the MG badge has appeared on lightly reworked Morris Oxfords, Morris 1100/1300, the triple M's, the zeds, and now the 3 and 6, it is as much an MG as any of the others, personally, I don't like them, but I'm not a huge fan of the ZT either, it's just an individual opinion thing.

A friend of mine works at Autocar and says it's not a bad car. They have one on long term test and Steve Cropley loves it. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it's great value and drives really well. Really like them in red with black sills and wheels.
