well here is the new steves cleenz mobile,

a little about the car:

owned by a fellow enthusiast from new who lived local to me, he was going to PX it in against his new car but they offered him peanuts, so he asked me if i knew anybody that would want it, so advertised it on facebook etc and got some people interested in it, then the missus said i really like that!
so cut a long story short i ended buying it for £700 :yay:

so, the car is a 2005 54 plate, 1 owner from new with service history and loads of receipts, alcantara interior, dual exit cat back powerflow exhaust, janspeed sports cat, K+N apollo air filter (sold this as im keeping my BMC CDA) the tax and MOT ran out at the end of Jan, but took it through a MOT and it flew through :fun:

plans are:

give it a right good detailing
heated front seats
wind deflectors
fit my old Xpower springs of the typhoon
sound deaden the rear

so made a start this week on the car:

fitted the wind deflectors

Good find Steve. And liking the the carbon wrap trim, gives it a much more modern look then the dated black oak.

The old 400 saloons used to have a liner on the inside of the boot lid. A victim of project drive, if you can find one being broke.

i did think if the early 400's had a boot lid liner :D looks like a scrap yard visit tomorrow :beer2:

I'm not 100% on if the 400 ever had a boot lid liner, I've never seen one.

MG ZS STE

Had a look and can't see it on here either. I remember someone telling me they got one off an old 400 saloon in a scrap yard though?

Yeah, it's odd, i can't find anything on Rimmers, but I've heard people saying 400s had them, maybe it was really early 400s, project drive started in the 90's post BMW taking over, so the liner could have been one of the first victims.

Progress is looking really good Steve, was a steal at that price!!

MG ZS STE
07-02-14, 06:08 AM
That is ridiculously cheap aint'it! At the rate of depreciation from the original sale price of £14750 to what Steve paid it's devalued exactly £1400 per year over the last 10 years. At this rate in 6 months it will only be worth £50.

Seriously though it's worth 4x what you paid for it in parts, I know.

Maxfly
07-02-14, 10:21 AM
I have never found a 400 saloon with boot lining yet either, I had assumed that early ones would have had this but all I checked at scrappers were without liners. Probably R reg was the oldest I found to check:)

Boot lining was proberbly a 600 thing but fits the late 400 etc.

Why are you breaking it mate. I remember the pictures you posted off your car with another typhoon zed and it looked perfect. I couldnt stop looking at those pictures for days.
