View Full Version : saloon boot lid
Is this supposed to spring open by itself when you release it or is it just meant to release from the catch and open it yourself.

In theory it should partially open, but the extreme spoiler ones might not do when the springs get a bit tired, the spring position can be adjusted to give them more tension.

You can knock the torsion bars down to the next notch to give a bit more spring, I believe. Never did it myself as didn't have a spoiler.
They're beneath the speakers mark.
Mine has an extreme spoiler when I release the boot, it springs open by about 80mm.
Mine makes a wee clunk and then I have to use the power of 'muscle' to open her up!
Well I have sourced some gas struts from work off a daf truck bonnet so thinking of fitting them.thing is will one be enough or do I need the two.

If its a trick bonnet maybe half a strut would do!

Daf grills are made of the lightest plastic ever but if you retain the existing springs you won't need much lift.
