Why aren't pictures full size.

I'm sure this will have been asked before. How come whenever I post a picture, it is only displayed as a thumbnail.
Everyone else is managing it but I can't? Help me, please.

Where do you host your photos?

I just upload them using the forum downloader. This uploads them but only as a thumbnail. If you click the thumbnail it opens full size.
Do I need to do it with a host like photobucket?

Photobucket is one of the better ones for putting full size pictures up on the forum
