Will a ZS180 with a decat still be legal?
Will it pass an MOT?

Technically no, but alot will depend on your MOT tester and how they view such a mod. If running standard manis then it will pass the emissions, however if the visual inspection clearly shows a non-standard part then it can be failed, if the tester is very anal. Where I take mine they use common sense and know the mods have been carried out carefully and they actually like the sound my V6 makes. They have no issues with it and know it is owned by an enthusiast, that is where it gets lost on the government, we all get tarred by the same brush.

Keep hold of the cat, it doesn't take long to stick back in if needed.

From what I was told by the mot station were I take my cars and have for the past 20 years the cat has to be there if its removed it will fail the mot regardless of the emmissions being ok

This is pretty much how I read it as well, I can see a demand for dummy cats in the future just to pass the visual inspection.
