Hi All,

So as the title suggests I had a little shunt tonight on the way home from work; went up the back of someone at the lights. :(

I checked the car over as much as I could at the side of the road in the dark and there didn't seem to be any coolant leaks so I drove home (20 miles) and when I got home the coolant was still at the same (correct) level so that was a relief.

Very low speed so mostly cosmetic damage to the bumper and number plate. However the radiator and fan assembly were pushed back a little bit. After arriving home and getting the site lights and socket set out I have managed to relocate the rad to pretty much it's original position using some spare upper locating dowels I had.

The cooling fan assembly has taken some damage though and whilst it still appears to function ok and keeps the engine at the normal operating temperature, the small fan ran at high speed for a few minutes after ignition was turned off. This is something I have not noticed before. This phenomenon did not repeat it's self after rad relocation - maybe a chafed wire shorting out somewhere?

Anyway I'm now on the lookout for an intact fan assembly to slot in. I think I'll have to get the bumper off and check the alignment of everything to make sure it's all ok.

All in all a very frustrating evening...

I've checked the large fan and it is moving freely. The fans behaved as normal today on the way to work (25 miles) so I think I've got away without any mechanical damage.
