My ZS engine seems to be on the way out, loosing coolant, down on power, loud knocking sounds, so I'm thinking of swapping the engine out of my ZT turbo which has been off the road for months with clutch and braking problems.
Is it a straight swap or are more parts needed? The ZT engine is on 102k but has been looked after and sounds good. If it's going to cost alot then I may aswell just get another ZS, but the idea is appealing!

Is your ZS a 4 or 6 cylinder?

You'll need to use the flywheel , clutch and gearbox from a ZS120 or maybe a ZR160 would be a better match.

Apparently the best ECU to use is one from a step speed.

step speed ecu for electronic boost control normal 1.8 zs 120 ecu for manual boost control
Z&f remap will see around 200bhp
And not 100% sure what to do about the fuel return as your using the zt manifold etc there normally something about fuel pressure reg wen doing the conversion

why dont you just get the ZT fixed? surely it will be cheaper in the ;long run

Thanks all, it's the 1.8 120.
I might Alan, but it needs a new clutch, rear calipers, 4 tyres, cv joints and a good service.
I had planned to fix it up and give it to my dad but he suffered a heart attack and has been in hospital for 3 months and it's looking likely he won't drive or ride again.
I just thought this may be the best option to save 1 car instead of scrapping 2.

1.8 turbo zs is the way forward and it won't work out 2 expensive as you already have everything
