I have a full setup for a 180.

BUT there is no loom, I was in the process of making it up... I suppose it depends how much you want to offer for the parts (including wiring diagrams) as to weather I part with it or not ;) - The project is stalled at the moment and I might go in a different direction.

Did they make a cruise kit for the 180? Never seen one before

No - but a few guys have looked at the R45 and ZT/R75 set up. Not sure if that's what this is.

It looks like the volume controls but on the other side of the wheel.

According to RAVE, they did - Although never seen one fitted!

The cruise control system fitted to some versions of the KV6 was an factory fit optional extra (R45 2.0 conny was standard), it was never offered on the MG ZS180.

I documented my attempt to fit it to my mk1 over on ZScentral

http://www.zscentral.com/phpbb/cruise-control-t8163.html

but, like Sam, I got stumped on the wiring.
Or it might be that the ZT KV6 throttle body for cruise has a different part number to the non cruise throttle body.

The after market cruise control offered by Rover was a standard kit from Rostra, I bought a kit direct from the USA and fitted it to my MGF where it works well.

I have fitted the O/E style steering wheel controls and started to work out the wiring.

There is no reason this couldn't be made to work on the KV6.

I got a few bits. Think I'm missing the cruise ecu but not sure what it looks like or where to find it on a 420?
Anyone know if I can use another model cruise ecu as there are quite a few to choose from on rimmers

James,

If you want to continue with wiring diagnostic on KV6 maybe I can be of some help, if you want it.
I am also interested in cruise control but on my R600, so I did some investogations. R45 has many similarities with R600 so I might be of some help.

Just a tought...

Thanks for the offer but it is way down the list at the moment.

I went down similar line as James - a universal CC kit, integrated with the OE controls.

I used this kit (http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/ce/en/product/851329/Waeco-MS-50-Magic-Speed-Cruise-Control). Works great in the ZS180 and TF. The steering controls need just a single resistor to work with the kit. The telltale light on the cluster works and I'm only missing a OEM on/off switch which is substituted by a cheap push button switch for now.

That kit is cheaper than the one I used on the F.

Have you wired the dash light?

On the ZS, yes. You can just about make out the light in the pic. I transplanted a wire with pin from a loom from a scrapped car to operate the dash light.
