MUST GO AS AM BUYING ANOTHER CAR - PRICE REDUCED TO £875 OR NEAREST REASONABLE CASH OFFER CALL ME ON 07860553818

2005/54 MK2 ZS 180 saloon - with sensible modifications

First registered 06/01/2005

History of car is it was owned from new by an old guy who lavished it with care. When he passed away it went to his son in law who had it for around 18 months or so and used it for commuting from South Coast to near London, then I bought it.

Car has not been on track or boy-raced.

Starlight silver - looks amazing when given a really good wash / polish and time spent detailing
Small rear spoiler (more discreet than Extreme version) - you can get an extreme spoiler for about £60 used on eBay if needed
Sheddist clutch kit
Oil breather / catch tank
Stainless exhaust (mid and rear section from cat back with round 3" tailpipe) fitted October 2014
Braided hoses for rear brakes
Rear bumper hanger bracket upgrades to prevent 'soggy bottom' rear bumper
'Axis' half leather interior
Tape cassette head unit and CD multi changer in boot
(complete with radio code card and radio handbook supplement)
Has two keys and also two remote key fobs

Genuine circa 65k NOW 67.8K miles - (will continue to go up as is in daily use)
MOT until July 2017

In last two years has had:

New battery (29/03/2014)
Four new tyres (Autumn 2015)
New clutch (when sheddist kit was fitted in October 2014)
New off side brake calliper (October 2014)
Replacement rear discs (October 2014)
Replacement front brake pads (September 2015)

Original pack of service receipts or bills not present however I do have:

> Service book / owners handbooks / old MOTs with stamps as follows:
10/01/2006 - 5598 miles
10/01/07 - 10503 miles
08/01/08 - 14368 miles
11/12/08 - 17373 miles
04/12/09 - 20563 miles
07/12/10 - 23142 miles
02/12/11 - 24905 miles
07/12/12 - 26193 miles (recorded on MOT history - stamp in handbook but date and mileage not visible)
14/01/14 - 42165 miles (MOT paperwork but no stamp in handbook)

> In my ownership servicing and MOTs (with paperwork) as follows:
09/10/14 - 50928 miles - MOT and service
23/09/15 - 57871 miles - MOT and service
08/07/16 - 62936 miles - MOT and service

>I was able to contact the original garage (main dealer MG in Havant) that looked after the car for the original owner (father in law of guy I bought it from) and they provided me with a comprehensive service and maintenance print out that not only verified the mileage up to my ownership but also confirmed it had been lavishly looked after - including having the belts done in December 2010 at 23k miles.

Drives really well and Vis motors work fine (noticeable kick at appropriate RPM)
Air conditioning blows nice and cool when needed (not this last week!)
All electrics work including spot lights / central locking / front electric windows / interior lights and clock etc
Does not have parking sensors fitted
Stainless exhaust sound meaty - but not tinny or too loud and does not drone on long motorway journeys

Interior is good for a car of this age - only thing I can see that is noticeable is a very small fraying of the front passenger seat fabric where it joins the bottom of the left side leather bolster at the edge of the seat.

Bodywork is OK with no rust - however for the sake of being totally open, following dings and marks noted:
> Left hand side (mostly rear door but some front door) has a number of car park dings (scuffs) - these go away when the car is given a good polish but a clearly visible once the polish has faded or washed away over time / rain
> roof has a small (size of a 50p) circular mark in the lacquer
>boot lid has a scratch (2 to 3 cm length?) on the left side - polishing does reduce but it is reasonably deep
>normal level of small dots in the paint on the front of the car consistent with small stone chips expected of a car this age
>not visible unless getting low down - front left bumper (very bottom of valance under spot light) has a scuff consistent with scaring on a steep ramp / driveway
> All four alloys have kerbing
> Light scratches to rear drivers side arch

Looking for best offer over £1225 NOW £875 or nearest reasonable cash offer - new car arrives in next week so need it to go.

PM me on here if interested - car is located in Southampton and mileage will go up as in daily use until sold.

Cash only on collection - sold as seen at this low price.

Thanks for looking
Dave

Yes - regrettably I know but it didn't sell at the higher price before Xmas and now I need it gone - I won't take a silly offer though, if I don't get anything reasonable offered for it I will SORN and store it.

Chap off the Rovertech forum - seems like quite an MG-Rover enthusiast.

Indeed - actually a bit of sadness for me really, as I've now moved away from MG-Rover products, having been a life long owner of many.

Just thought about how many I've owned and the mind boggles. List below of all those I can remember:

Montego 1.6 Countryman estate (F reg) - green and grey
Montego 2.0i MG (H reg) - in bright red - my 1st MG
Rover 220Gsi (M reg) - deep blue
Montego 2.0i Countryman estate (K reg) - silver blue
Montego 2.0i MG (T16 conversion) - BRG
MG Maestro Turbo (F-eg) BRG
Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Fastback - (L Reg) - Nightfire red
Montego 2.0 Si - White over grey
Montego 2.0i MG (H reg) - BRG - I broke this one in the end
Montego 2.0 Turbo (H reg) - BRG
Rover 620ti - (R Reg) - green blue
MG Maestro 2.0i - Red (can't remember what reg year this one was)
Rover 620i - (V reg) - white
Montego Countryman estate (T16 conversion) - Nightfire red - 280bhp forged engine - this one was flipping rapid !!
Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Fastback - (P reg) - deep blue
MG Maestro Turbo (G reg) - BRG
MG ZS180 Saloon (54 plate) - Grey
MG ZS180 Saloon (54 plate) - Silver

Looks a lot like my list except I never have had any 200/400/600/800 series cars (had metros and 100's though).

Sadly the current MG co cars just do not follow their predecessors, I know a few MGR fans have followed through but for me they just don't have the same passion.

Agree with you on that.

It's a bit sad really, I remember the TripleM message board when it first started in the 1990s - was a great community and I learnt so much about the workings of the Montego and Maestros. First learnt about the T16 conversion on there and met some great people at the MG saloon day (does that still take place?) and other meets.

This website has been similarly useful but things move on and the MG brand hasn't done enough to capture the imagination of existing customers or a new generation of enthusiasts (in my opinion)

I've seen some of the same names and people on this and the Rovertech website that I used to see on the MMM forum so to me that proves there was a transition of enthusiasm from one generation of cars to the next that could have been capitalised on ...

Shame really

Dave

I'm still in touch with a few peeps from the old triple MMM and even the old BBS board but virtually everyone has moved on to something else.

Me too now.
I toyed with the idea of keeping the ZS as a fun / track day or even show / event car but in the end couldn't justify the man-maths finance of it, plus I wouldn't realistically have the time.
