After its last MOT I had three advisories.

1) rust near the n/s front suspension fixing points, but not dangerous.

2 & 3 ) Front n/s and o/s jacling points rusty but not dangerous.

Up on stands and wire brushed it all off and rust killer then POR 15.

Might be worth jacking yours up and have a quick check, less its part of your service checks.

The jacking points is due to poor design, muck builds up at the ends of the skirts and has nowhere to drain

I Used to play around with MGB GT's and they rust away as you look at them.

Got a mobile welder in to have a look, he said just wire brush and rust proof it. If it needed a patch he said £50. but he was a decent guy and didnt push for the work.

Hope you had a good Birthday, day, Luke.

I had to get one of the jacking point welded up last year and has an advisory on the other.the car is still in my garage for the winter so will have to see what's what when I drag it out for the summer and mot it.

dreaded rust, I know I should look at the top of the gas tank, but worried what that will be like!!

Hope its not got any worse Grimmy, I don't have a garage so it has to live outside all the time.

Yeah I'm pretty lucky to have the garage and that is two winters it hasn't been on the road so hopefully it will slow down the rot.been driving a very nice zt 190 this winter and TBH I have fallen in love with it.

Sent my Mk1 through the Irish MOT yesterday and it failed on advanced corrosion on the subframe and the offside chassis rail amongst many other things. She will become a donor for the XPG Mk2 now

SHAME, but they are all getting on a bit now.

Least it will live on, keeping the other one going!!

It will keep as many ZSs as possible going. The scrap man won't get his hands on the car till it's just a bare shell. I have the Mk2 going up to a mate of mine who works for a rust repairers tomorrow morning. There is only a few patches of surface rust on the floorpans and under the fuel tank etc. but it only needs to be wire brushed back, treated and then sealed with waxoyl or something simillar. Comes with a 5 year garuntee on it aswell. Saves the bit of hassle in future
