Sticking rear caliper

Noticed when I'd stopped after a drive today there was a tremendous amount of heat coming from the rear passenger side wheel. Could this be a caliper or hub issue? Car doesn't feel like it's being held back at all. Would like to get this sorted before the MOT in August :)

Now clocked 1000 miles since the car was sorted, making up from the first few months when it sat idle!

Could be a sticky slider, nothing unusual.

So good to hear it's now clocking up the smiles!

Most likely the caliper.slider pins are notorious for sticking.I used to take the pins out and clean them twice a year when my zs was on the road.

Cheers guys. Easy job? Im very basic when it comes to mechanics but do have a ZS haynes manual.

Mick, I have to remember I'm on a 5k mileage policy, but its such a joy to drive. Any excuse to knock it down a few gears to hear that exhaust crackle :) I feel rather guilty for looking at selling her when I was having problems, more out of frustration with myself for not realizing a 13 year old modified car would be trouble free! Just a few tidy up jobs and getting the radio sorted.
Looking at the power flex bushes next and perhaps a bigger brake setup before I go on track.

Dead easy.just two bolts and the pins come out a good clean and some copper grease or similar and put it all back together.doddle.

Might have a bash tomorrow. Could slider pins really generate that much heat?
Could feel it when I walked by, even with jeans on!

The pads move out enough to not hold you back but the pads will still be rubbing the disc.

I know how you felt at the time, I was also guilty of the same. T16 still has running issues and need to find a specialist within a reasonable distance to sort it. Can't enjoy it as it is not running right. I've only got 3k on my policy but not too far from renewal so still has some decent miles left.

Yes definitely can do that I've had the buggers smoking with this problem .hence why I used to free them as a matter of course like a service item.

played with my O/S/R Caliper for months, it was replaced after the first one stuck on and destroyed the disk. Got new sliders and greased up and freed off a few times, but it always went back to sticking on.

Got a new caliper off Eurocarparts, and its been OK for a couple of years, so I reckon its best to get a new/reconditioned one to sort it out longer than a month or so
