Most people know that car tax is based on CO2 emmisions based on data produced by the manufacturer when the car is new.

The ZS180 was tested in 2001 at 227g/km CO2.

However not many people know that the test to produce the CO2 rating was changed in 2004 and the ZS 180 would have tested at about 204g/km CO2!

That would put it in a considerably cheaper band!

...and what happens to the CO2 rating if you change the engine type in your car (e.g. T series engine in a ZR)?

I think it reffers back to the changed engines rating. So in that case it will go on engine size

So ... do you know if we can appeal the rating or is this just to let us know, and then leave us p1ssed off.....

This would explain why the MOT station says the 180 passed the emissions test by miles.
