On Piston Heads website (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=364), never seen so many! However if you are one of those fortunate ones in the minority who are actually looking to purchase one, then this is the place to be looking. Some well priced examples going and some silly ones too. A few familiar ones to be found as well.

Would love one but they just seem so more expensive to run.

How much more would it cost to run one over a year compared to a 120?

For me a 180 costs:

- £60+/week fuel (250 miles upwards) - so minimum of £3000
- £800/yr Insurance (3PP, 26, N.Ireland, 4yr NCB)
- £500 (or so)/yr Maintenance (4 new tyres, oil/filter change every 6-7.5k miles, book service)
- £210/yr VED (Road tax)

That's about it i think, so the total is about £4500/yr. :)

From that you should be able to work out the difference in cost.

There's something not right about it though. I just put the VRM into webuyanycar.com and they said :

Your valuation details
webuyanycar.com will buy your car for £4,775 (subject to inspection)

Either it's hooky, or we should all chip in, buy it then pass it on for a 1K profit ..... :pirate2:

Because the government changed it in the budget :(

no they didn't change it in the budget. This is only for cars registered on or after 23/03/2006 so if your car registered before this date you will only pay £210 per year.

i have also included a link to the government website showing how much people will have to pay each year.

as the zs 180 are 227g/km exhaust emissions they will fall into the over 185g/km category they will not fall into the 225g/km as this is only for cars registered on or after 23/03/2006.

here is the link so everybody can see it for themselves.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_10012524

you need to look at the second box down for petrol car (tc48) and diesel car (tc49)

and the zs 180's fall into band f not band g as it says for vehicles registered on or after 23/03/2006

nope that is not for this year.it will be the same price for next year aswell

i think you need to look at the small print on what you have just posted.

do you see the small number three by the side of the emissions on band g and if you scroll down the page you will see a list of numbers 1 2 and 3 and number 3 says for vehicles registered on or after 23/03/2006.

Road Tax ... here we go again !

The 3 is only next to the left hand column and relates to cars for the 08-09 year registered in March 06 or after for the higher tax banding.

Our 180's then fall into the new columns for the 09-10 year where it'll be £415 if the car is registered after 1st March 01, and the small 3 does not come into it.

That's the new VED rate as from March 2009 for a 180.

With the tory's current view on green policy's it will be exactly the same even if they did get in. You want a modern performance car, you are gonna have to pay extortionately for it. Said it before, say it again...... Bastards
