okay boys and girls, if i bought a 1.6 ZS maybe red with white wheels and smoked lights (:D) would it be possible to land a honda civic type r engine in that bad boy? its just a wild idea at the moment and haven't really thought about it....i just wondered if anyone could set me straight before i waste anymore time thinking of it :) thanks guys

I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could get a Lister Storm V12 in it ! In other words Dan, nothing's impossible - only your bank balance limits it ! :)

Bear in mind Brakes et al will need upgrading as well ;)

Sam's right , if you are going to do this to any ZS then make it a 180 as it already has the uprated brakes etc. Then you can sell the V6 on to recuperate some money :)

T series engine would be a better choice. The change from K4 to T series has been done many times on the ZR, so the knowledge and parts are there already.

I agree, T series turbo all the way dude

You keeping your car too?

oohh i dunno dude i was just throwing some ideas around :-P deep down my ZS is firmly in my heart and i just would not get that V6 roar from a t series! but i mite be tempted:D

I'm still on the verge of making a touring car replica just for fun... has to be done!

No chance. You would have to lengthen the engine bay and convert the car to rear wheel drive. You would also need to have a tanker follow you everywhere you go.:noexpression:

Yeh but its how much you want to spend :p

Would go well though if it was possible

the extra weight would kill the handling!

Anything is possible, just depends on how much money you want to throw at it and what you want to achieve.

In the past I have pushed a Manta engine into a Chevette with little work. After that expired I then dropped a Rover V8 in it, but that required a bit of engineering, but boy was it quick when finished

I wouldn't mind a rwd conversion on the ZS for a track car, would make it a better balanced car on the loose. That's why Revivals have converted their ZS180 to rwd.

I wouldnt bother with the typr r engine to be honest there not that quick a good 180 would give that a damn good run for the money

If you wanna drop a different lump into the ZS have a chat with Martin Hadland (Reyland Motorsport)

thanks for the response guys :D Has Martin had alot of experience swapping engines about? i just fancy something a lil different! okay here's another idea.....what about....scooby running gear? i.e. 4wd? with a fair amount of cash....that would be rather good idea ah?

Agreed, he mentioned Audi Turbo engines when I was thinking about it, he has a ZR with an Audi Engine in it I believe

IIRC the Evo 5(?) running gear is more or less a straight swap...

On the other hand the Freelander gear is the same distance wheel to wheel and bolts to a KV6.... - if its 4wd you want ;)

4WD... where you gonna runn the gear? down the Exhaust channel? but then where would the exhaust go? Sidewinder style?? :D:D

carmadbaker

a straight swap? :-O now that would be cool!

hmm....freelander running gear? i want to get power down to the floor not go and check on my cows bud :D lol

yer having 4WD straight down the middle, run the exhaust straight through the car and out the back....who needs electrically heated front seats? :D

it is an interesting concept though ah? WHEN i win the lottery i'll plant a rover V8 in a ZS with mitsi running gear :) and your all welcome to have a go!

okay then this opens another can of worms....if you won the lottery....(you'll obv keep ya ZED!) what would you do to it? be as crazy and "out there" as ya can!?!?

ZS

I think I'd have to do this to at least one Zed ;)

Also I've looked into it and the Evo 5 running gear was done on a ZR rally car... not sure it it would go in a ZS without more mods?

lmao!! that drag car is insane!! that would show some scooby's up :) thats really quite interesting, anything is possible i know....but havin the ZS chassis and setup combined with the grip and stability of an evo....talking business dude ;)

this is interesting...i have always thought the zs would be better if it had 4wd...i may consider it...donations welcome :alcoholic:

if you want some roar from a zed you need to fit an engine from a 5.0 liter corvette and go V8

that will put one huge smile on your face :smart::smart::smart::smart::smart:

Remember 4WD *may not* improve handling... depends how its done...

But it will also *reduce* performance at the wheels!:shoot:

I alaways wondered if MG were thinking about making the ZS 4WD or RWD, as the Mk2 at least has a huge tunnel right down the centre of it - perfect from running a drive shaft

A RWD ZS is possible, but it would need alot of welding!

rear wheel drive would be good...lots of fun :clap2:
