Check out the other thread on the brands hatch track day and listen to my car compared to the rest of the zeds going past. none of the others had a de cat at the time.Don't know what it will sound like with the janspeed tho. I have the scorpion on mine.:smile2:

I had a de-cat on my old ZR, also all janspeed from the manifold back, and it totally transformed the car. Sounded better, went better and actually used less fuel lol

I found it made the car much louder when you booted it - and it was a crazy aggressive sounding loud - but made it much quieter on the motorway and about town.

Makes the cruising note more livable I think. I drove it for 2 years with the de-cat and the trip down to Manchester with the standard cat back in almost drove me mad with the noise it was making (KevG can vouch for that, as he was with me!) It really was an awful drone after the crisp noise it had been making

Frees up a few extra BHP too

I went to pick a friend up from a night out just after I took the de-cat off and they didn't even recognise the car coming it sounded so different lol

I really hated it without the de-cat

I have tried countless times to fit my decat and have admitted defeat! All 5 off fixings are rusted solid and will not budge. I have broken one new nut splitter and tried a butane micro-torch that can reach 1300degC with no effect.

I will have to pay to get it changed as it will need ramps and oxy-acetylene to free them up otherwise the studs on the downpipes will snap I know it!

no, that's part of the cat back and a centre box. It fits right after the car and goes to the back box

The cat is just a short straight bit of pipe

you can buy them from Janspeed I think, but the bast bet is to get a custom exhaust specialist to make you up one... usually cheaper that way too

Not this time, they quoted nearer the tonne for it. Its a lad out near Linlithgow who does stainless fab on the side. Just need to see him and get measured up and set a time to do it as he'll build it to fit. Already got the widget to fool the cat sensor.

I was going to say that's a good price from them. SOS are about the £80 mark

It was a chance meet, the lad came with his old man who is part of a scimitar owners club to buy mine and we got chatting about the zed. turns out his dad is in the market for a zed.

£60 is a good price, but is it a full section or are they just replacing the cat & leaving the OE flexi?
http://www.ptp-ltd.co.uk/shop/225_55/mg_rover/mg_zs__rover_45/exhaust_systems/mgzs_180_cat_replacement_pipe_(de_cat_pipe)_-_janspeed.htm is just under a ton for reference

Just the pipe i believe. Mind i've got the K-series. Dont know how different it is on the V6
I'll find out what the deal is when i see him but from what we spoke about he's gonna fit the pipe so that the cat can be put back for MOT time. I'm assuming that means just replacing the cat section itself.
