Has anyone done this? I was thinking it may improve the sound from under the bonnet.

Any tips on removal or do i just rip it out? :punk:

It's just held in with push clips. Pull hard and it should come off easy enough

Mk2's never had any, so it can't be vital. The stuff on my Defender was starting to disintegrate so that came off too

My mk2 has it Ross, obviously another cost cutting job on the later ones then

My 51 180 doesn't have it, I would have thought the PO would have replaced it if damaged, they seemed to be that sort of people, maintained their cars as per the delivery spec and service book.

None of that on mine. Daft question but what does it actually do?

Kev did you not put yours in afterwards though? I seem to remember it appearing later on from a Rover 400?

Sounds like mine is the only one without it! And it was a Longbridge demo car FFS!

It's just sound deadening anyway... I like to hear the V6 roar

this was removed from most models with project drive although i don't think they were ever fitted as std on the mg's to make them sound better. the 400 is different and doesn't fit the 45/ZS.

my 98 214 had it but my 2003 25 didn't and neither my mk2 45 or ZS had it.

i recently bought a brand new one and it makes the cabin much quieter.....wish i had done it on the 45 as the diesel is very noisy!

i tend to think rover just fitted things as and when they had them in stock especially in the last few years.

that's true enough, ZR's are a prime example of making it up as they went along. Mine was supposed to be a top of the range Rallye 2 but came with a tape deck, and I've seen a few ZR's about with the Rallye 2 body kit but 15" wheels!

My ZS has almost every option on the list as it was a demo car, but only had the poverty spec lip spoiler
