.... what does the st mean on fords. i ask this as my dad is just about to buy a mondeo st220 and wondered what it means

Ive never heard of a definition for it tbh. Bit like Skoda's vRS, not sure what thats about either.

neither does the mondeo its a 3.0 v6. my guess would be sports something but would like to find out the proper meaning

I was thinking of the Focus ST hehe, forgot about the Mondeo there.

Google isnt helping much, though it did reveal that vRS is Victory Rally Sport, apparently Ford sued Skoda for use of "RS", Skoda won an added the v because of it. Or something :)

The meaning of "ST" on the sporty Fords is Sports Technologies, same as the SVT on the American Fords only it means Special Vehicle Team, as for the RS brand which means "Rallye Sport", GM which own Vauxhall and Opel wanted to use it but they but Ford said No, so they rearranged it and came up with Sport Rallye
