For my sis. Was thinking of a ZR or even a TF. What do you reckon? Any suggestions?

ZR ... or TF for a girlie.

TF 135 would have plenty power for her. Not sure if you'd get a decent one for £2,500 though. Needs to have the 11 spoke 16 alloys though. They are a must !

Had one ... so can recommend them.

friend has the mgf 118 bhp, and even that goes well. the mgf is a cheap car now aswell

Just be aware as £2.5k will get you an average ZR or F unless you get one through a club/forum of known heritage. Dealers will bump them up a fair bit from what I have seen lately.

Thanks for all the replies. My sister is 31. Ideally I'm after something that looks quite nice, but doesn't have to be quick.

TFs and Fs aren't the most reliable cars in the world so with 2500 I wouldn't get one. I had a TF btw!! Get a low milage zr mk1

As above a ZR 105 or 120 perhaps? My daughter is looking at ZR's and has her eye on an 03 plate with 30k on it for under £3k and that's a dealer.

for 2.5k you will get a bloody good zr or mgf. consedering that great zs's have gone for less than that.

Ended up going with a Mini Cooper as that's what she'd always wanted. It's a graphite SE with the chili pack so looks pretty decent inside and out. Could probably have got an SV at the price :) Cheers for all the suggestions

It's no a bad wee car. Has the leather and gadgets etc to keep her happy, and the engine is sporty enough. Wouldn't call it fast, but it's 120bhp so isn't too sloooow. Black roof on hers.

Good cars, hold their value very well too. From memory I think they get to 60 in about 9 secs (?) which is not bad at all - enough to overtake confidently when needs be. About the same performance as my last car, and I had buckets of fun in that.

Hang on a minute................in my head I saw £2.5k to spend on a car and automatically thought you meant a REAL Mini not that German abortion! Cheap for £2.5 then ;)

Useless fact...........I designed the thorax airbag assembly and test cells for these  both UK and US market types.

What I meant was .... I might get a phone call from someone, and the question could be, who did (blah..blah) on the airbag for the mini, and I could tell them .... Stamford from the ZS site !

I've done nothing but play golf with Alex all week. The weather's gonna be good so I'm afraid I've got some jobs from Mrs C this weekend, then a BBQ to do Sunday evening. I'll not be going mate ...
