Supping oil!

had a new engine and its done 5-6 thousand ish miles now but its burning up all the oil so ive got to top it up every month, iv got no leaks, so have i got a problem or is it just cos of new engine?

What engine is it? Should not be consuming oil at all unless it is knackered.

Any smoke from the exhaust? Is the coolant discoloured?

how much are you having to top up every month? engines do use some oil or it could be a small leak, as long as it isn't pumping out loads of blue smoke (watch for at start up). if its a new engine is it covered by some kind of warranty?
