That will depend on budget, but the first two are generally cat-back exhaust and induction kit. The induction kit debate will go on forever! BMC CDA or ITG Maxogen are the two preferred ones that give the most gains. After that you have the sports cat, manifolds, cams remap etc etc. Where you stop is up to you, your wallet and your bank!

ITG of course, only company with the nuts to give a rolling road before & after on the 180 ;)
I am a tad biased as I have one lol.

sean welcome to the zs 180 tuning world. As stamford said its based on how far your wallet will stretch but here's the list of performance mods i have done to my mk2 180:

Piper stainless exhaust system
De-cat pipe
Home made induction system(inner wing)
Piper 270 fast road cams
ecu re-map

Initial bhp before any mods 175bhp @ the fly
Bhp when rr'd the other day when re-map was done 211 @ the fly.

As all the others have said....

Exhaust and/or induction. After that it's down to the bank balance. :)

Performance wise, the cat back system will not give much benefit, if any. It will make the car sound faster, though.

To get any form of power benefit from exhaust modifications you will need to look at either manifolds or sports cat.

The best performance mods are driver training ;) and induction system.

Depends what you want,do you want mods that will make your car faster in a straight line or mods that will improve the dynamics of your car and make your car faster from a to b?.
If you want cheap bhp ,look at induction and de cat ,if you want a quicker a to b car look at a set of road legal slicks ,tyres are the most important component of a car and will give you more gain than engine ,suspension mods etc ,no point having lots of power or trick suspension on standard tyres as you wont be able to extract all the potential, any car can only corner as fast as the grip its tyres give, increase corner speed and you increase overall speed dramatically.

Spot on Dave, to have the power you need to be able to carry it. In this instance it is purely bottom end budget and releasing some restricted performance. Then it becomes an obsession! :-D

I have cheap budget tyres on the back of mine at the moment and they are really crap not only do they weigh half a ton they have no grip either.

What ones do you have out of interest?

I use Hankook K104's and they are excellent tyres in both wet and dry, superb on track too and not expensive circa £70 a corner.
