Just wondering people how good does the MGZS take to biggish sound systems? Would i need to uprate anything like the battery? :hmm::hmm:

they take well to them. no need to up-rate the battery for me. just needed to sound proof the front doors. Boot rattles when stood out side but that doesnt bother me as the only time i have it loud enough to rattle it is when im in side!

im running a alpine head unit, vibe front components, infinity rear speakers. 4x85w jbl amp to power them, 12" jbl sub with a 500w amp to power it and i dont get any problems with the battery. no dimming lights when on max just loud music!

i dont think you will but you may need to uprate the battery, or get a second battery in the boot with all that.

i thought the power caps just store energy?

so minus the front and rear speakers and the head unit.. which the car has already... the only extra the battery has to cope with is 2 amps and 2 subs :o

power caps store energy and release it when needed, i.e for a big bass beat. tbh they dont really do much but look cool and save the battery a little

depends on the power. If it's more than 500W RMS then it's going to start dimming your lights. Only choices are to get a high output alternator or put up with it! There's no point adding power capacitators unless you have a high output alternator, if your car struggles with stock battery and alternator, adding a power cap is only going to give the alternator yet another battery (as that what it effectively is) to charge up, and isn't actually going to solve the problem.

I don't know what ampage the stock alternator is, haynes should say.

Wilko- is that wattage "peak" or "RMS"? Because if it's RMS, your car not be able to cope with nearly 3000W RMS. If it's peak, find the RMS, as peak means nothing.

Ive added a second battery to mine but did that before all the audio went in as thought it might need it, as running 2 subs at RMS 400w and 2 sets of components so was just a procaution more than anything but then I have HIDs so no dimming anyway lol, :)

Ive got 2 6x9's 80watt RMS each. 2 10" subs 250 watt RMS each. the 2 amps are 1000 watt and 800 watt i dont think that is RMS. so any ideas if the battery will need uprating?

So if i fitted just 2 10" subs and 1 amp and just replacing the original speakers with the 6x9's and 2 6" speakers in the doors. would that be ok on the stock battery?

As long as you don't pump more than 1kW. I think you would be OK running all your kit- but that would be the limit!!

an up-rated battery will help. try one of the Exide ones. i had dimmimg problems in my R200 and a higher output battery sorted it out. maybe a second battery there is no need to start changing alternators unless your running HUGE systems and i mean huge.

a friend of mine has a sound off car, 4 x 15 inch subs, 2 3000w amps, but on standard alternator and standard battery with 4 extra batteries in the boot.
