As seen on Motobuild!

http://www.moto-build.com/mainsite/counterbalanced_quickshift.jpg

This quickshift lever shortens the throw by 25% which leads to faster gear changes, this lever is a direct DIY replacement for the standard lever on ZR 120 & 160, ZS 110-120 & 180, Rover 220/420 turbo and non turbo, in fact it should fit all Rovers with the PG1 gearbox i.e. 620ti, 820 Vitesse, Maestro/Montego. Also check out all our gear linkage uprated bushes and supports on the site, or give us a call to discuss your requirments

If this is exactly what it says on the tin it sounds like a lot of fun can be had for just £50!

Will make the car a pig to drive when its cold but I think I could put up with that. Anyone fitted one of these? do it? dont do it? Very tempted!

I have something very on my T16 maestro made up by a member of the MGM community, it is very good, definatly makes a diffrence but it knocks slightly on the 2&1/2" exhaust.

It shouldn't make a diffrence if the car is cold, have you changed your gearbox oil?

oh cool! hopefully it won't knock!

Recently yes, and the new clutch is just wearing in so gradually getting smoother.

The 120 has the PG1 which is a decent well proven box that has been found in many many Rovers, MGs, Lotus etc, sadly the 110 doesn't.

Will do, will hopefully order next week matey, just gotta run the clutch in first to make sure all shifts are smooth.

Before I did about 50 miles in it, it would not change down without revving (I do this by default anyway) and reverse was a pig. However, its getting there, reverse goes in just like before and changes for gears 3 and 4 are almost spot on and 5 is perfect. Just 1 and 2 to ease themselves in :) (Nothing a weekend of driving won't sort!)

Once I'm confident the gearbox is settled I'll order this gear linkage and the fun can start all over again :D

Derv has a PG1 gearbox...

I don't rate the R35 (?) Ford box... but hey I'm not a specialist, however my PG1 has never let me down even though I've more or less wreaked it :D (Hopefully new one to be fitted soon!)

From what I have been told you can make your own short shifter from the OE part... apparently you can move the "ball" part of the OE kit fairly easy once disconnected from the car, then you just need to weld the ball into the new position and reattach... now you have a short shift :D

R35 Gearbox don't you mean the Ford IB5!

The L series derv uses a PG1 box, the ratios are quite low, there is a lot of info on www.rovertech.net about PG1's from how to rebuild to ratios.

There is a R65 box fitted to some smaller K series engines.

I've never heard anything good about the Ford box.

It is possible to reduce the throw on the PG1 lever by adding length to the lower section but I'm lazy and would rather buy the motobuild version than spend time trying to make my own.

Yes Sorry my mistake... this keyboard can't spell sometimes :drunk::drunk: - Or did I mean the R65... oh I don't know :P the ford box on the 25 causes nothing but problems!! Replaced three times so far....
