I know on the 180's they have a vent there, but is that a different shape?
Just curious :D

Take it off see whats under it
On the MK1's it was a vent but there is no vent on the MK2's wether it's a 110 or a 180. It houses a sun sensor on the 180's for the climate control. It looks like a dark red LED but it isn't !
ahh, so its nothing on mine then :) was gonna remove it but couldnt see how :D
No, it's purely a blanking plate like some vacant dashboard switches have. It's basicly used through out the car industry to save them having to make more than one design of dashboard for one model of car !
I havn't removed mine but i'm guessing it needs a cut out that big for a reason !

Models with climate control and a sunlight sensor, but as yours hasn't got climate its just a blanking plate for you to put little leds or what ever you want in it
so its not got access to the vents like the mk1?

it detects the amount of sunlight, what it actually does i don't know as i never had a ZS climate control go wrong,
To work correctly, the climate control has 3 sensors. An external sensor mounted in or near the front bumper, a temperature sensor inside the car and a sun sensor on the dash. Block or obstruct any of those 3 and the climate control wont work to it's most efficient.

so i,d better get the drill out and make a new holder for it then..............
As long as you're not fully covering it and the sun has an opportunity to reach it then no, you should be fine to carry on mounting it where you currently do !
