As I read the wiring diagram for the rear fogs, the Black goes to C, the Red/Yellow and Red/Blue to the NO +ve and negative, and the Red/Black to the +ve on your new switch.

Have you got the full diagram?

Red/black - black will be for the switch illumination.

Red/yellow & red/blue both go to the BCU - another lead from the BCU goes to a relay.

Guess what, in the time it took to check the site again, I got it!!!

And furthermore, I sorted the heater one too so now ALL 4 switches fully function!

My only issue was my switches all have 1 ring LED each....

The problem being, 3 out of 4 of the original switches have an illumination light AND a tell tale light.

I was going to have them all illuminated when the lights are on as this would look better than some lights on, some lights off but as it turns out, tell-tale lights on fog switches are an MOT requirement!!

So, I plan on creating 2 circuits, switchable when needed, that give me both set ups:

1. All switches illuminated with the lights turned on

2. Door lock illuminated, other three lit when operation selected (ie. foglights/heater)

That would have been helpful last week lol!

I did wonder why the diagram was way out. Lucky I have perseverance and spare fuses!

A wee bit of progress again today. Sadly my wiring is wrong as no switches work, just light up. I think I know what the issue is so will tackle it tomorrow.

PC side of things is progressing well, the basics work!

One problem I've discovered in trying to wire an amp...

I have iPhone plugged in to audio jack with phono end plugged in to amp. The front right speaker is screwed to the relevant point on the amp and this is connected to the wiring from the head unit. Not a peep?! Ideas?

Once Kev has finished the red ATC it's goodbye orange forever!

Looks good mate not got a clue about the amp though.

talkingcars 27-03-12 07:37 PM

I don't know much about iPhones but it doesn't sound correct to me.
Does the phono plug at the other end have 2 or 3 contacts?
Have you swapped any of the wires on the amp to see if it just one channel?

I couldn't quite work it out from the description, but I assume you ran the remote cable to the amp to turn it on?
