Corsa strut! Worked a treat!

Cheers Mick, that looks pretty Gucci! Any particular year or model of Corsa? Also, did you need to drill holes to mount it at the back, or was there some already there?

I drilled the holes myself. I can't remember the year of the corsa, I think it was '98 plate. To be honest, it wasn't rocket science & if you can pick up a free or cheap strut from a breakers, I would try to have a fiddle around first. Try to get one with a bracket type mount.

I would l;ike to stop my boot lid from closing when i am trying to get stuff out of it. It doesnt help that my driveway is on a slope and my car has the large spolier.
I removed the spolier bolts, but very little water came out, so the spolier being to heavy is not the cause.
I wanted to move the rods like suggested but my car seems to have different brackets???

I have tryed moving the rod forwards but the grap on the bracket is not large enough for it to pass though, there is also not anywhere for the forward most end of the rod to locate.

I have removed the rubber stops and that has allowed the boot lid to open more and that has helped a little bit.

My mk1 was the same as your's, i.e. only one setting.

IIRC the brackets unbolt so you could try and swap them for some from a later car.

Ok thanks. I have looked and the earlier cars like mine, go over to the later part number. They come as the whole hinge assembly. Rimmer bros have about 100 of each side in stock.

There is also a different rod for the large spolier cars, but as mine left the factory with the large spolier i would hope that the correct ones were fitted..................that said they did stick on a ZR commission number, so who knows

I have some bonnet/boot lid gas struts for a Rover 800 so i may have a go at getting them to fit
