Whats the cut off? I was looking to buy a MK2, not so sure now? Also is there a difference between an earlier mk2 to a mk1? I guessing this comes down to the year?

I think its 2004 that it starts to go up but dont quote me on that.

Those after March 06 iirc, my 55 plate is still in the cheaper range:D

Dave MGT 04-01-11 04:53 PM

Yeah its only real late mk2s. Mine is a 05 and its normal rate.

Yep, Post March 06

Vehicles registered after the 21st March 2006 command the higher tax bracket.

Mines a 54 plate and i spend ?245 a year on tax. If it was ?233 every 6 months like yours i wouldn't have bought it lol

Re-sale value of high band tax v6's must be effected. Shocking considering 06 plates were built at the same time as the 05/55 plates

Bottom line is that (currently) Rocket Red will pay ?600ish more for his 06 plate than anyone else over 3 years if paid for in 6 month bursts - it's cheaper in the long run getting 12 months.

Although a damn p1ss take and tax should be paid on fuel so that companies paying for reps to do 40-60K a year pay the brunt, I don't think that's too bad really and I'm fairly sure IIRC that he got a nice black saloon with alcantara from a forum member. Sometimes that in itself, will make it worth the extra.

If he gets shot before the belts are due in 2012, to someone who doesn't know about them - it's evened out.
