Thanks for all the offers of help, have just had him call me to say he is back on the road. Apparently still has original engine which has an extra bolt and a new sump?!? Also has a sump guard, says he will send me some pics later. Am intrigued with this so looking forward to what I get to see. Thanks all again!!

Least you tried to help, Maxfly, hear of so many stories where the buyer has probs and the seller says "go away", or words to that effect!!!

Plus this was just an accident, so no blame on you.

Cheers Peter, aye will help him when I can and good to see plenty offers of help here. Relayed what was happening in this thread so now he won't mind if the engine does to pop as will get a fresh lump an pop it in as doesn't seem to bad to get a hold of now;)

Typical, couple of decent sounding engines that you wouldnt have minded recommending, all being sold round this time.

Lets hope his engine holds together.

Your telling me! The way he badly describes it to me has me thinking there was a small hole that's been drilled out an tapped for a Bolt to go in.......I may be thinking too simplistically here though!?!?

Sounds like a helicoil insert, into alloy wouldnt be a problem, but, I'd be worried about the alloy cracking where it was hit.
