The ZS's have a 55 litre tank and it's 8 litres left when the light stays on constant so in my 180 i'd look at getting 45 miles to running out with not changing my driving style!

I wont risk more than 10miles with the light on.

my petrol gauge is all over the place its so inaccurate. as soon as my light starts to flicker on i get gas pretty much straight away.

Twice whilst driving, I have noticed my petrol guage dropping from around quarter full, right down to empty and then back to quarter in about 30 secs.
|
When the light stays on I dont push it anymore than 30miles.
I always put in ?30 at a time and when I have done 150 miles I know im running low. I did 80 miles on ?30 the other week and the light kept flicking on!!! was shocked! Normally get a good 28mpg though |
I found the guage in mine was more inconsistent than inaccurate. With a full tank, it would do 120 miles before dropping to 3/4 full. But another 120 and it was at 1/4!! However, the last 1/4 would go at least another 100 miles before the solid warning light appears. The light never scares me anymore though as there always seems to be at least a good 30 miles left!
Is it still recommended these days not to let your tank run too low between refills? Story of dirt etc in the tank... I have a long habit of going from completely full to almost completely dry and recording the volume so I can keep track of the mpg. phil |
My petrol light has NEVER come on, so i can only assume the bulb has gone, as ive run it pretty dam low in the past.
|
They normally set most cars up so that that light comes on with just over a gallon left in the tank so around 30-40 miles usually.
Don't go too low too often as any crud or corrosion will give your fuel filter some real grief. |

Combination of fuel sloshing around the tank and the predictive gauge reacting to your driving. |
