Just sent payment for a set of smokestone alcantara seats.
Good condition with little drivers wear. Big thanks to Dave (with the yellow ZSTD) for pointing me in the right direction! Can't wait to get them and get the heaters whacked in them and in the car hopefully in time for PoL! It's all coming together quickly! |

Productive afternoon today
Spoiler is on A bit further forward than normal but i have the lip spoiler too but i think it works well. Stuck it on a polo too! http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps5f905020.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psf038673e.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps11f6974c.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps18f12a24.jpg Looks a bit off but I think it's just the angle :/ http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps24c65ab4.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...pse1b1ac65.jpg Also got the rears of the alcantara seats in too. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psb2ac9269.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps43dfe323.jpg The fronts will go in when I have the heaters sorted :/ Hopefully soon. My Brother also had a bit of fun with some tape. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psd49a6754.jpg |
Well, that Alacantra truly is stunning.
|
What! No comments on the new stripes?
It feels so nice! And looks good! |
MG ZS 180 Mk2 - XPG Saloon.
Those alcantara looks plush. I have the black alcantara in mine and it makes the cabin looks very dark.

Was trying to keep to a grey theme really. Might look at getting the doors re-trimmed at some point. |
Not 100% on the spoiler to be honest but the seats look great. Every ZS should have alcantara .... Good work.
|
Doors are on my to-do list too. Take it you've also got a seat mismatch due to the heater issues :D

That and I want to shave the seats before fitting to get rid of the bobbling! Tbh I'm not 100% on the spoiler yet and will be on the lookout for another mk2 bootlid with lip spoiler to have another, better go at it! |
Lip spoiler and less extreme spoiler
http://www.themgzs.co.uk/vb/picture....pictureid=1481 Stripes look great btw:hmm: |
I've said it before, but I must have that spoiler Pete.
|
Thanks, some people aren't keen on it, not extreme enough for them.
|
|
Those seats look lush.

I also sound deadened the floor beneath them and it's so much quieter now! Getting luxury! |

Yea it's like a gel sticker. |
I've got dazzer on the case to try and match the mk1 inserts for colour so I can have my centre console match the colours.
Are the door cards recovered? |
Put both of the seat base heaters in over the last two days
Bit of a short joining wire makes it difficult but they all fit well! Just need the backrest heaters to arrive! http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psc04a155f.jpg Also me and my sis shaved the bobbles from the alcantara http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps531f8ca4.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psc86f7e6a.jpg Still a little bobbly bit looking alright. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psc93bf0b6.jpg Little bit of bolster wear but for now they are good until the money is saved for a refurb and reupholster. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps378f753b.jpg |
Back parts of the seat heaters are in.
Front seats will be in by Saturday. Fitted the wind-deflectors too. |
Got the front seats in today.
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psdaf33f49.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps968873a1.jpg Really comfy but I do want to refurb them still. Just need the heater switches and the relays sorted and they'll be working in time for summer! |
They look good.
|
Yummy, I wish I had them.
|
Great work, love the attention to detail.
:wave::wave::wave: |
Today after a lot of swearing and some effort I changed the drab plastic mk2 kickplates for the better stainless mk1 kickplates.
It's the little details that give the car more class I feel. Before: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps76ccad25.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps5432cb2c.jpg After: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psfe062296.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psb3b34772.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psb6a6c087.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...psf76ba985.jpg I also changed the rear quarter badges as they were faded. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps994dc747.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps8b18bfe1.jpg I tried to debadge the rear today as well. To take the aftermarket badge off as I wasn't a fan. But after I had taken it off it appears that someone had had an over-zelous attempt at taking the original off and scraped the paint off the boot lid. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps23e15991.jpg So it seems I am destined to have a boot with badges on. Ill order some replacements and hopefully (as the paint is scraped off outside of the badge borders) Dazzer will be able to make me a slightly oversized badges to cover it up while I attempt to source a grey mk2 boot lid with a lip spoiler. *sigh* there's always something. |
I did the stainless tread plates on both our mk2's, it looks way better than the plain plastic, the badges come off much easier by a bit of heating with a hair dryer, and a length of nylon fishing line to cut through the adhesive pad.

I tried softening with some tar remover as well but it was old and crappy. Im gonna get at it more over the next few days to clean it up for the replacment. |
Mines a mk1 and i still got the plastic kick plates.............
|
wd40 and a plastic scraper gets rid of the old foam pad pretty well, then a wipe over with panel wipe or meths before you fit the new one.

I have bought the stainless kick plates too, already have the rear but waiting the front from Rimmerbros.
How did you achieve that ? Did you remove the plastic plate first or just drill ? |
Quote:
The Mk1 black plastic had drilled holes in it already so was quite easy to sort. |
I was wondering about the early door cards with the mk2 dash, definatly a bit classer.
|

I'm also sending a bit of mk1 dash trim to dazzer to see if he can get some vinyl of the same colour so I can wrap the mk2 dash the same as the mk1's colour to match it in a bit better. I think it's similar to XPG so i could spray the dasy pieces. but I'd like it to be a good match amd finish so it all looks like it was there from factory. |
There is a paint code somewhere.
|
There is!
http://www.themgzs.co.uk/vb/showthre...rim+paint+code And it came from your thread. Was it the correct colour code when you had bought it? |
