I dont want to be negative but if there is a serious problem it may be worth totting up how much you can get for breaking this one and see how much it would cost to buy another around the same mileage.

Having said that, with all the work you have done it would be a real shame to give up on her too easily.

Hopefully it will turn out to be a relatively easy fix for you anyway. Best of luck.

It's something I have been considering. What I want ideally is a mk1 (or mk2) Trophy Blue without an engine or with a duff engine in good condition going for peanuts. Then I'll just bung my engine and exhaust, induction on and away we go :)

Are all cv joints perfect? no play etc? Is the diff perfect? I still reckon you might have a faulty diff/gearbox assembly causing this. Why else would a driveshaft twist on the joint like that? Must be a related cause.

How can you test this?

This is supposed to be a gearbox with a faultless diff?

Not pointing fingers, just merely voicing an opinion as to the probable cause! Process of elimination to find cause.

I wasn't pointing the finger fella.

If anyone can give me a way of testing the dif on this gearbox I'd be happy to do it :)
