I'd take both, I only have the pink one, thats how old I am.

Dont forget Helmet, unless you are hiring and arm/legs must be covered up, so no just shorts and vests!!!!!

Disclaimer all signed up ready to hand over, and I take the receipt for the two sessions.

See you up there.

Craig-ZS180 08-04-13 05:58 PM

Yeah from previous track days id take both parts of licence although I think they only want the photo card if that's the one you have, the receipt of booking so have the booking ref no (just incase issues on system) and the form too although they have loads there to fill out and sign if you forget your own one.
Oh and plenty of petrol tokens too :D

Dan1971 08-04-13 06:21 PM

Cheers then fellas - see you there.

Should be there 4 ish personally.

And to get our excuses in early - Andy and I have a combined weight of about 31 stone ! Considering the BTCC penalty for a win is about 60Kgs, I'd say we're running with a substantial weight disadvantage !

Craig-ZS180 08-04-13 07:11 PM

Meant to say possibly a full size spare too just incase you should happen to have an issue on track.

We're talking excuses now are we lol, well my excuse is that at present I haven't been on track since a few additions to the car so will have to feel what it's like round there incase it has unsettled the geometry of the car. If can get it four wheels drifting through paddock hill to the run off area without going into the gravel we should be fine lol.

I'm just looking forward to going out there again for some time where you can enjoy the car for what it is, as long as I'm smiling at the end of it I don't mind how fast or slow I am tomorrow, just looking forward to it.!

You saying that Dan, when I did my last day at brands I was with a mate that races mgs and he was saying where to place the car and so on, didnt really think both of us in the car would make much difference but when I went out on my own for some hotter laps Christ the difference was shocking.

daytona365 08-04-13 08:02 PM

All we really need to remember is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The track goes CLOCKWISE....

Craig-ZS180 09-04-13 09:27 AM

Who ordered all this rain, going to be a bit more interesting out there if it stays like this unless its just down here in the Southend area.

peterzs 09-04-13 09:34 AM

It will clear up and be fine!!!!!

If not I'm bringing the camera and will just be the photo guy!!!!

Not that I'm a woose or anything!!!!

Steve mead 09-04-13 02:10 PM

Nothing wrong with a bit of slipperiness into paddock!

Craig-ZS180 09-04-13 02:19 PM

Maybe not for the more experienced however im still relatively new to the track day driving as only done a few previous days out.
Dont mind controlled sliding but into paddock is another question altogether..

daytona365 09-04-13 02:40 PM

Havent seen anyone crash yet lol.

Dan1971 09-04-13 07:58 PM

Well - home safe - car went well.

Light rain made it very slippery and there were a few guys on track that were pushing too hard for me to be honest. I was lucky during my stint as I went out at the back and so it took a long time for the faster guys to catch up with me, but when they did, they fairly flew past not paying any attention to the pass on the straights only part of the briefing, so I came in a bit early.

All in all a great little session. Car proved itself to be fast on the straights and safe in the bends at my low speed. Next time I'll hope for dry weather and then I'll maybe push a bit harder.

Lots of spins from some front and rear wheel drive cars, so very glad to get home unscathed.

Great to see you again Pete - Craig - hope it went well mate, sorry we couldn't stay to see you afterwards.

Daytona .... Where were you .... ?

Craig-ZS180 09-04-13 08:19 PM

It was good to see you guys again, sorry to Pete that didnt get to return the coffee this time but next time you know where to turn mate when you get thirsty :)
That is a good point Dan, where was Daytona? I thought you were going to be there too so hope nothing serious cropped up.

I will second what you said Dan, it was very slippery out there, only had the back step out slightly twice whilst finding its limit but the little twitches were enough in the conditions today.
Yours did look good out there buddy and sounded very nice too.
Unfortunately for me it seems my whiny gearbox has suffered a touch more from going there today, the whine was a little more noticeable on the way home so a replacement may be required in the near future, other than that though what a good few sessions out there even with the dreary weather.

peterzs 09-04-13 10:37 PM

Well............... went out but wasn't for me, I tiptoed round, MR2 went pass on the straight, then as I went down the hill he was spinning in the middle of the track.

Still was good to meet up with Dan and his mate and Craig.

Did do a couple of laps, but then came in, two cars then spun off and next lap everyone was in.

Think too much of the Yellow Peril to stay out among the fast guys.

All the blue flashing signs were a bit of a give away, still well done to those that could drive in the wet and slippery conditions, way beyond my skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But next time in the dry.............

:yay::yay::yay:

Craig-ZS180 10-04-13 04:05 PM

Good pic Dan, I think at this point mine had found its way into a garage.
Forgot to take pics myself but only had my phone anyway :slap:

peterzs 10-04-13 06:21 PM

Like it Dan!!!

peterzs 10-04-13 06:26 PM

Cheers Craig, had the heater on all the way back, did drop into a Harvester, on the road to Woking, just off the M25, for a meal.

Was a good day and wouldnt have missed it, just glad we all got back from the track in one piece.

Seriously..... anyone heard from Daytona?

peterzs 10-04-13 06:57 PM

on f/b 6 hrs ago

daytona365 10-04-13 08:50 PM

Hi gang.........heres my story. Got to Brands Hatct at 3.05, drove to the paddock and parked up. Watched the daytime sessions. Looked pretty slippy. Was certainly cold. Freezing my ass off walking up and down pitlane. Then at about 4.30 thought Id better go and sign on at the Mansell centre like it said on the email, get there, no one in sight. Took until 5.00 to find a man in orange to talk to. They told me they had moved the signing on, but as I had missed my briefing,I wouldnt now be allowed on track. Was a bit peeved off to say the least............SO wasnt in the mood to argue, and as I hadnt seen you lot, I thought Id go home..........................

Was so cheesed off that I went to bed almost as soon as I came home, hence the delay In posting on here. I wrote a snotty email to complain, but no reply. However i did get the same email that Dan mentioned, about getting another day for nothing, so will have to arrange another meet. This time I will check at about 3.30 where and when signing on is.......................Sorry I didnt let you know earlier, was looking forward to going round with you lot, but by the look of the tack I didnt miss much anyway.

So did everyone get the email????????????????????

Craig-ZS180 10-04-13 08:55 PM

I bet you were a touch annoyed at that then, well I suppose at least it wasn't due to something bad happening if you see what I mean.
It was very wet out there but still managed to have fun.
I didnt get the email but then it may be because I've now done three track days through club msv which they say the tasters are only for people with upto that amount of previous track time.
Depending on how much it all costs to sort the now current issues that have reared from the track time I'm going to try to book a full day at a later point in the year.

Glad your ok though buddy.

Dan1971 11-04-13 07:52 AM

The email went out just to those that were on the 5.40 session. After the sighter laps, there was an off and everyone was red flagged and we had to go in. Then after a while we came in anyway, but I think there was another Red flag later in the session.

The email is basically saying that if you're there for the day, you get another go, but as the tasters are on 20 mins, we missed out a fair chunk. I think they are really trying to get more business. They mentioned the reward system of discounts at the driver briefing and now an email inviting us back.

Fairly decent of them.

peterzs 11-04-13 09:47 AM

We did the same Gordon, went to park up behind the pits and a marshal turned us round and the signing on was at the restaurant, Kings.... something, just before you go into the fenced off area.

Thought it was all very shambolic and not as well organised as last time where we had the signing on in the pit area.

Only because we had been round before did we know what to do, first timers didnt get any help.

Think I would have done the same as you, shame but maybe we can use the freebie to arrange another meet up and in the warm and dry, this time!!!!

daytona365 11-04-13 06:48 PM

Thats what I was thinking, the freebie would make up for the no go...Try bit later in the year, we may get some sun...........................then Dan would be blinded by our yellowness.

daytona365 12-06-13 08:25 PM

Have used my CREDIT to book a session this saturday........Lets hope its a bit sunnier...

peterzs 12-06-13 08:29 PM

good luck, dont know if I want to use my one or not!!!

Go on Pete, be a shame not to. It was only that sketchy last time because of the very poor weather. I'd be doing it again if I could do another and if I was upto it. Be a good time out again. Keep getting offers come through for last minute booking for the full day Saturday whih keeps tempting me.

peterzs 12-06-13 08:35 PM

not if we go out with the fast guys like they had out last time!!

Novices I can cope with, but no fun when you get pushed along.

Just dont want to thrash the derv, like I know I would.

Dan1971 12-06-13 08:37 PM

Too competetive mate ... just let them past ... :)

I had the track to myself for most of my last session as I was right at the back. Only place to be mate.

I understand though ....

peterzs 12-06-13 08:50 PM

Must be getting old, Dan!!!!

:-D:-D:-D
