looking good Ross

Maxxed_Ross 28-06-10 09:28 PM

cheers guys

going to make a start on getting the fuel system sorted and fitting the brake bias valve this week

Maxxed_Ross 24-12-10 01:43 PM

Right bit of an update on this since it's been a while lol

The fuel system is now done and ready to go. The ATL 45l fuel cell is mounted in the boot and is linked up to a TVR fuel pump that sits right next to it.

The electrics are also more or less done apart from the last couple of bits. Lights all work, the relay and fuse boxes are done and all the first extinguisher system is working.

So basically just need to fabricate mounting brackets for the brakes, finish piping up the engine and have it mapped.

Just having a bit of bother sourcing driveshafts, so if anyone has a pair of 180 driveshafts knocking about let me know!

not far to go now really, so fingers crossed it will be on track this year... once it's thawed out

That car should be in a garage all wrapped up nice and warm!

Maxxed_Ross 25-12-10 06:50 AM

I thought it was, but it seems to be back outside again for some reason. Think the garage was being painted

Maxxed_Ross 28-12-10 05:10 PM

post 1 updated with loads of new pics

peterzs 28-12-10 05:49 PM

Great build, think I would keep it in a box when its finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:bow::bow::bow::clap2::clap2::clap2:

Bobdope2002 28-12-10 05:54 PM

Awesome Mate Love it!!

Maxxed_Ross 28-12-10 07:23 PM

thanks guys

unfortunately after this project costing so much (and it's still not finished!) it will be used as much as possible once everything is sorted out and the race engine is back in.

Ultimately I'd love to take it around the 'Ring, but I don't fancy driving all that way with it on a trailer. Then I think the little 45 litre tank would only get me a couple of laps before it needed filled up

Paddyniknak 28-12-10 07:25 PM

car to be proud of that mate

Maxxed_Ross 28-12-10 07:26 PM

try telling my other half that, she just sees it as what should have been a house deposit lol

petet16 28-12-10 07:26 PM

If you use 180 shafts you'll need to fabricate some sort of bracket for the intermediate support bearing.

Maxxed_Ross 28-12-10 07:27 PM

that guy I found on ebay is sending me a set that should fit straight in, he is running a T series with PG1 box too

petet16 28-12-10 07:31 PM

Ah cool, sorted then.

Paddyniknak 28-12-10 07:32 PM

Haha dont get me started i keep gettin told i should be saving for a house

Maxxed_Ross 28-12-10 07:40 PM

haha I'm on strike 3 now. Had a deposit, declined the mortgauge because I hadn't been in my job long enough so bought the RB320 by accident.

Almost had another deposit, Bought the Defender then spunked an insane amount of money into it.

Nearly had a 3rd deposit then bought the touring car. That was nearly 2 years ago now and it's still bleeding me dry lol

Hopefully next time will be the winner

petet16 28-12-10 07:41 PM

I've just found out that the 2.0 kv6 doesn't use the 2 piece shaft, so pair of shafts off a v6 45 should fit if the ebay ones fall down.

good find :) makes my search easier hehe

Maxxed_Ross 29-12-10 06:23 AM

I can't imagine there's many 2.0 KV6's about though.

I've never seen a V6 45 I don't think

When I bought my ZS, they were 2 R45 2.0 V6's in the showroom, one being a facelift, and a Mk1 that had the Mk2 180 centre console etc !!weird!!

Southside_ZS 29-12-10 10:04 PM

Looks awesome but still think it would of looked better in the original X-power colours.

talkingcars 29-12-10 10:49 PM

The 2.0 KV6 is meant to be smoother than the 1.8T, the 2.0 was pitted against the baby jag engine and the 1.8T was against the audi.

The O/E airfilter on the 180 was designed for the 2.0L, that's why it's so restrictive on the 2.5.

Maxxed_Ross 28-01-11 11:50 AM

Dave ZS-X 28-01-11 05:49 PM

Maxxed_Ross 29-01-11 08:11 AM

I dodn't really want to think about it.... I'd probably cry.

Dreadnought have said a few times that I'm mad doing this. Brian worked out that so far I could have bought a ZR trophy car and raced it for a full season

and normally too late when it has lit up!

Hands up those that have raced in one form or another have actually thought **** it I'll keep going and hope to pick some points up?

Luti 01-02-11 08:54 PM

I had a loose wheel at oulton on the last lap and thought exactly that. Got over the line and quickly stopped to find the wheel hanging off :D Made it tho!

Maxxed_Ross 02-02-11 06:57 AM

or when it was peeing oil out of it at Knockhill last year and we had to push it from the pit lane after the race

LOL how could I forget that! Car was full of smoke!

Maxxed_Ross 08-02-11 02:14 PM

don't suppose that place with my brakes have been back in touch yet?

Luti 10-02-11 12:13 PM

Just rang them and they have been really busy. They hope to start them in 2 weeks. They are fitting this job in between big jobs in order to keep the cost down for you. If you want them done sooner then rob a bank and pay BIG money. :smart:
