That's a fair enough point then Pete, as Dan says if its personal preference because of not wanting to push the car too much and because of the bigger toys that go there then yeah totally a good choice mate.
I get too competitive and its bitten me once when on track, not good.
Last 2 times I've just had to keep a clear head and hold back and remind myself I'm there to just enjoy myself and not end up in the barrier.
Tis hard to keep a level head though when doing that :D

Well survived in one piece. Was worried when I saw the hail storm come down as I approached the blackwall tunnel, but once I got to Brands hatch the sun has come out. The session was good. Learnt from last time where I could go a bit faster, brake later. And as a result actual overtook a TVR, all that power, but no handling. The Zed just clung to the track and I had him........only down side was some absolute scumbag in an excuse of a BMW. (the white thing in the pics), he obvious didnt hear the bit about "no overtaking in braking zones and corners"...Overtook 5 cars going into Surtees and all way round to Clark curve....still as I was getting ready to go home, I notice his bonnet up and fluids coming from underneath...shame.

Glad it went well, tend to expect the Beamers to do something!!!

:-D:-D:-D

Dan1971 16-06-13 11:12 AM

Pesky BMW drivers eh .... ;)

rich12345 16-06-13 12:55 PM

I really want to have a go at one of these. Whens everyone going up again?

splinter 16-06-13 01:01 PM

So any plans for a full day for you guys?

peterzs 16-06-13 01:03 PM

We normally do the £25 taster ones, dont stress the car or the drivers too much!!!

splinter 16-06-13 01:13 PM

The car and driver only get stressed if the driver takes his brain out before he puts the lid on!!!

Maybe go with the same guys as me? They split you into experience levels so you don't have to worry about the serious boys in their big toys. Take things at your own pace a bit more. Also everyone is in mg of some description so a lot more civilized :-)

peterzs 16-06-13 01:15 PM

Sounds a good set up, that MG's on Track???

splinter 16-06-13 01:44 PM

Yes mate. Not necessarily the cheapest but very well run. On their own days it's sessioned, so you get a break as does the car. As you are grouped into primarily experience level you haven't got to worry about being overtaken by faster cars or the more experienced. They are also quite strict on the overtaking by consent/ straights that doesn't always happen on other days!

Done a few with them and got 3 more booked and paid for.

Great fun to be had :-D;

daytona365 16-06-13 01:54 PM

Been meaning to do a MGoT day, but, wnated to get the 3 tasters done first. Bit cheaper, and easy to organise, holiday wise.

splinter 16-06-13 01:57 PM

Yeah that is about the only downside. They are usually on a Monday

peterzs 16-06-13 07:18 PM

I'm a member of MGCC and seen the write ups, I'll have to pop over to Castle Combe next time they have a on track day.

Usually go to the charity cancer ones.

splinter 17-06-13 05:35 AM

15th July......if you get over, hunt me out and say hello. Think wildcat is planning on being there as well

peterzs 17-06-13 10:00 AM

will do, dont know what we are doing at the moment, but sounds a good excuse to pop over.

:):):)
