Well, he introduced himself on xpf as being new, asked a few questions about how rare the colour was etc, then 3 days later it appears on ebay with a youtube link to a username Terratruck77 which rang a bell, it turns out he's registered a second account over there, probably because he tried to flip a zs for a quick buck as terratruck77 and got some stick for it

Nor 01-03-13 09:29 PM

Who's the seller?

Did the same on .org (Called: ALFIESDAD) asking about how much an extreme spoiler (another lot of his) would cost to be painted and about the paint itself and the colour match.

I told him to enjoy it as it was a cracker!

The original seller said it had gone to a good mg home as well. Think I'd have gave it a better one but I was about half a day too late.
Hope it goes for less than he paid! Haha!

petet16 01-03-13 10:02 PM

It's got no reserve and high mileage, given how soft 180 prices are it could go for low money.

talkingcars 01-03-13 10:42 PM

Hopefully less than £600

Stephen 01-03-13 10:59 PM

Oooh i likey!! :)

mrmick 02-03-13 05:37 AM

Think its time for my penny pot again only just brought another sunspot keep a close eye on it

stamford 02-03-13 06:54 AM

Does it really matter that much about the sellers reputation? As long as the car is straight, honest and nothing hidden then why not? As long as they are not exploiting the sale as it is a rare colour. I wouldn't mind that myself.

idge2003 02-03-13 08:52 AM

That is a lovely colour and I like the MK2's without the extreme spoiler too!

Its an 06 plate but he says its the lower tax is that right? Also does anyone know how much it went for last time it sold?

Brett

In this particular case, yes it does because the last zs he flipped had an issue which he concealed.

It is right. I looked his car up last night o the dvla site.

1st registered 17th of March 06. The tax hike is for cars registered on or after 23rd of March so it is the lower tax band.

I asked him for a BIN price. He said make and offer. I said ain't doing that as if I offer a grand you say bogg off and that's that, I say £3K and you run off the bank laughing. His response was it's created loads of interest so the figure he's looking for is close to my higher price - ie £3K !

I told him the interest was generated via the various forums and his long list of watchers will be mainly interested parties who are simply wondering what a high miles Mk2 would sell for given that the paint is circa £500 a litre - told him I'd be watching the auction and wished him all the best. Fair enough was his reply.

It'll get removed if it doesn't get him what he paid for it at least.

And - to make myself fell better and to convince myself to keep the money in the bank. It's PINK !

idge2003 02-03-13 11:34 AM

Thanks for that Dan!

I asked what it went for before as I'm thinking it may get bid up to that point at least so I'd have an idea!

I wouldn't pay £3k for a ZS full stop but one which has done nearly 20k miles a year I say good luck to him whatever colour it is!

It was on various classic car websites for £1500 as I was gonna go and look at it but it was sold before I had a chance.
If its low still I may bid, but not paying over the odds when I'm looking at mk2's with 32k on them

Skillen 02-03-13 11:57 AM

In that instance then yes be wary if the seller has been dishonest.

petet16 02-03-13 01:24 PM

He paid less than £1500 for it I believe, if he's after 3k he's on drugs, rare colour or not.

talkingcars 02-03-13 01:49 PM

I bid £601.01 - don't think I'll win - LOL

petet16 02-03-13 02:10 PM

I wonder if the seller will get his mates to shill bid this one like he has before.

Skillen 02-03-13 05:27 PM

He sais on .org that apparently he didn't realise how much it would cost to insure it.

I doubt that's true, he's owned at least 2 mk2 180's prior to this one, the last one he sold because his wife didn't like it apparently.

This is what he said.

Only costs me £417 a year with only 4 years ncb so he must have poor NCB.

petet16 02-03-13 05:41 PM

That's more or less exactly what he said when he was selling the last one, and to be fair he has a point about making the journey and paying the asking price, however turning up on xpf pretending to be new to the mg world, and asking what it was worth looked well suspicious, especially when it turned out he'd been a member on there for about 3 years under a different user name

He said he was new to .org so wonder if he wasn't :/
Oh well, it's being sold regardless, just hope there isn't anything wrong with it for next owner.

petet16 02-03-13 06:02 PM

I looked at the thread on .org, if he was registered before it's not using the same name as xpf, the car is probably fine, it's just his shady behaviour that raises peoples suspicions, his auction seems to be very active considering it still has 6 days to run

petet16 03-03-13 08:23 AM

The auction was just ended early - item no longer available.

petet16 03-03-13 08:51 AM

He bought it for £800 apparently, not a bad flip, he's at least doubled his money in 6 days, nice work:pirate2:

It wasn't, that's what he offered the original seller and they took it.
