Anyone interested in one of my cars?
Both are mk1, trophy blue saloons with the extreme spoiler.
180- -belts done -144,000 miles (prev owner commuted from Hayes to Bristol) -FSH, all documentation to prove -I'm the 2nd owner, been owned by a 62 year old man from new -just serviced -plenum replaced, but needs VIS replacement -needs new tyres, I've got 2 that I will give away, the other 2 should be fine for a while, but there are 2 on at the moment that aren't legal -very good condition for it's age, has been reliable -been used for 3 months over summer, then SORNd. Was MOT'd when I bought it, so should be good for the next one as it's been barely used, just fixed up a bit. 120- - approx 48k - extensive history- changed oil every 5k, been the owner since 27k - loosing coolant, but no mayo. - Tyres are ok - no MOT or tax, but I don't mind putting it through an MOT, it's mechanically sound. - full stainless powerflow/peco hybrid exhaust. powerflow down pipe, peco/powerflow cat back. Not loud but noticeable. Nice noise if you open her up. Both cars are decent, perhaps need a bit of work but I just don't have the money for them anymore and I don't have the space. I'll probably be getting a motorbike when I finish uni, cost of motoring is disgusting these days! Offers? What would you pay for them? |
Bikes are just as expensive, and COLD........................Keep the 180!!
|
Bikes are dirt cheap and even better in performance to a 180.
Compare a 180 to my bike.... 65mpg v 25 3.8 0-60 v 7.2 £65 tax v £250 Then again, if I could afford a 180 I'd have one over the bike :D |
if i get another car it will be a derv, need to save money as I'm looking to move out to NZ!

To be honest it may take me a whole 2 mins to put on a jacket, gloves, helmet and a pair of boots, the time in which is saved by being able to get to my destination so much quicker on the bike than i ever could in the car. :) Whereabouts are you starfire? I may stick in a cheeky offer on the 180 if your not a million miles away :) |

May cost a bit more than a 180 to run but will get you to work on time!

The 180 i will let go for £600. Anyone? |
I don't think I'll ever be able to sell my cars :/ I bought the 180 for £700 and have replaced the plenum, given it a service and want £100 less than I paid for it! lol
|
The problem is they are just dropping in value, Im struggling to get £200.00 for the engines now !
So it just has a knock on effect. Why not look at my mark 2 I have for sale ! George |
I'll be keeping a look out nearer June/July when I've finished uni and in a position to buy, need to keep my head down with studies and be careful with money until then!
|
After some thought I have decided to keep the 180 now. She was destined to be scrapped and I don't have the heart. Instead I will spend a little bit of money on the essentials to start with (catch tank, brand new VIS motors, 2 new tyres, regas aircon, new spark plugs, induction kit as the existing panel filter is shot), whilst keeping an eye out for a used cat back and decat. Keep her until she gives up (should be a while yet!), then perhaps look at a mark 2 and transfer the good bits/mods.
I think I'm making the right decision! 120 is still for sale, I don't need 2 of these! |
Sounds like a wise decision. Parts mentioned no different to any other car needing TLC tbh. Like you said some parts can be swapped over when the time comes. Get the 120 sold and you might be able to put it towards the mk2? What's it going for as it stands?

£1000, that's with the coolant issue fixed. If it's expensive I'll discount the £1000 by whatever the quote I got is. The car is driveable, it's just loosing coolant!
