WA02ORY jobs

I may as well start a thread! I have a cooling fan issue, and whilst looking at that I saw the radiator was rather tired so got it out and have ordered a new one!

Looking at it really pleased I found it before it started to leak!

It'd be fair to say that it's past its best

Lukeus101 07-06-15 06:26 PM

I thought ours was bad....

top_man_eldo 08-06-15 12:09 PM

That's the worst I ever seen! Where do we go for new radiators then?!

BRMFUN 08-06-15 12:10 PM

I have ordered one from Euro car parts! Should be delivered Tuesday :)

120 radiators are easy to get hold of...

180 radiators on the other hand, lets hope DMGRS are able to get some made up ;)

petet16 08-06-15 12:18 PM

Yeah, 180 rads are rocking horse poo, I've got a decent 'ish one for a spare, but if dmgrs come in with a fair price I'd probably go for one

top_man_eldo 08-06-15 12:20 PM

Can we not get the 180 radiators re-cored? Or is there a similar design from another manufacturer?

Possible to recore them I guess, if all mounting points etc are good.

Don't think anyone has found another rad that works yet :)

stamford 08-06-15 01:05 PM

I used to get all mine re-cored, cheaper but depends if you are in a rush.

BRMFUN 21-06-15 12:40 PM

Car immobilised itself today, I had the key code but no joy, so I started dismantling the handset! I then poked and prodded it with my pen knife in desperation, and it suddenly started to work

Anyway I need at least one more handset, does anyone have any idea about a local person who can supply and program such a thing... Worcestershire area?

Mods, I messed up this thread title should be WA02ORY and could you please move this link to this thread :please: http://www.themgzs.co.uk/vb/showthre...a02#post354361

So MOT is Monday... A couple of jobs I think need doing, then fingers crossed!

Finally got round to fitting the radiator, and sorted broken wire on the cooling fan... Thanks for help with this!

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psgicykwcm.jpg

The steering has felt slightly strange recently and on close inspection the N/S track rod end had seen better days, so fitted a new one!

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psfg3fy8dc.jpg

The N/S rear caliper has been sticking, I tried to free it off a couple of month ago but it's still sticking so I fitted a new caliper.

Finally in the lock up with some of its friends till the MOT Monday.

Update passed the MOT today

Lukeus101 13-07-15 08:39 PM

Awesome feeling :D

Had a new centre section of exhaust fitted yesterday all good but then on the way to work EML came on??? I am thinking sensor on cat ??

I will try my OBD later however it usually will not connect to my phone when used on this car (mk1 120) but works fine on sons mk2! Is this because the car is too old and does not work with OBD correctly or another issue?

mattyprice4004 31-07-15 05:43 PM

What year is yours? :)

BRMFUN 31-07-15 07:22 PM

2002, so it should work but the wireless ones just don't connect, perhaps I need a wired one?

BRMFUN 13-09-15 05:41 PM

Trying to get my low profile spoiler off my hatchback..... All the nuts have come off fine... But it won't budge, I even tried hammering the nuts and bolts :hmmm: any ideas???

petet16 13-09-15 06:28 PM

Plastic or wooden wedges tapped into the join is how I got mine off

Great idea! Will get on to it in the week :thankyou:

BRMFUN 14-09-15 03:22 PM

Had the journey from hell today, absolutely pouring with rain and the wipers stopped

They stopped half way up the screen if I pulled on them they would do half a sweep then stop again!

I am guessing motor, what do you think?

talkingcars 14-09-15 09:55 PM

More likely to be the mechanisum.

BRMFUN 14-09-15 10:08 PM

It's stopped raining now so will check that out! Thanks!

BRMFUN 04-12-15 07:28 AM

It wAs the motor, but changed both anyway!

BRMFUN 04-12-15 07:28 AM

The ZS has started to be very jerky almost like the engine was cutting out! The engine management light has come on, the car seems low on power, a delay when you put your foot down and does not run smoothly. If left to idle the revs fluctuate between 750 and 1200 rpm!
OBD does not work on early MK1s despite what everyone says, the terminal is the same as a BRM!
Any ideas???
I have new coils which I will fit but some how I don't think it's that!
Thanks!

talkingcars 04-12-15 07:42 AM

How early, my mk1 was 600 and something, built in September 2001 and was OBD2 compliant. I don't know about the BRM but the socket on the 1996 Rover 100 is the same shape as later OBD2 cars but wired differently.

BRMFUN 04-12-15 08:40 AM

It's wired exactly like the BRM :(

Edit... It's not wires were loose!

BRMFUN 05-12-15 03:12 PM

Well after much fiddling about! I got the OBD working..... Fault read... Multiple cylinder misfire ! And guess what, just noticed the coolant level is low.... Head gasket gone as a good guess! So big dicissions to make! Part ex for a rather nice Rover 45 Diesel up the road or give it away to someone who wants a project and just use the BRM ??? Help!! Or I store it till I have time to sort which could be a while

If anyone does want it free of charge, genuine people only not to be broken, please PM me!

talkingcars 05-12-15 08:51 PM

Just because the coolant is low it doesn't mean the head gasket has gone, it could easily be that the inlet gasket has gone letting coolant into the inlet and into the combustion chamber causing the misfires.

Inlet manifold gasket is quite common, I'd check it out before giving the car away.

petet16 05-12-15 09:33 PM

As above, inlet manifold gasket.

BRMFUN 05-12-15 10:34 PM

Yeah I will try it thanks, not got time to do it so its in the lock up for a while.
