i get the salt and crap form the road, just a quick wipe over and its as good as new. wouldnt mine painting the black thing to the left of the engine cover, think that would look smart

Not really looked too closely at that before, is it just a belt cover? Looks fairly easy to remove from the photo, unless it affects the running of the belts somehow...

Oil cap could look good colour coded too ;)

afcbadam 08-06-09 09:58 PM

ive been looking at either a chrome one or a carbon fibre one, but waiting to see if one comes up for less that £15. last time i painted a oil cap it blistered up, must be the heat from inside the engine.

stamford 08-06-09 10:00 PM

That is way too clean! :D

afcbadam 08-06-09 10:09 PM

it will be nice and clean inside soon as well, just won a genuine oil filter for £4.50. just need to get the oil now!

Jay-ZS+ 08-06-09 10:21 PM

Looks good a lot cleaner than mine!! Painted by bay over the weekend but it takes a lot more than paint to make the Kseries look good lol :(

afcbadam 08-06-09 10:32 PM

my old k-series. rover 216 16v. i reckon it was around 125 bhp, stripped out and went like stink for a 1.6

started off at 109 bhp, had the induction kit, cat back, de cat, stainless steel downpipe, polished and ported head,

Jay-ZS+ 08-06-09 10:36 PM

Still cleaner then mine :) what had you done to that then to get 125?

afcbadam 08-06-09 10:38 PM

just edited it, 125 was always a estimate, never rolling roaded it.

there were a few other bits, i had an uprated coil thingy, quad core ignition leads, oil breather.

this was my favourite car..... only changed it as the missus was expecting and i needed a bigger car.... that had some rear seats!

You need to let go! :p

Boot Hill Bandit 11-06-09 10:09 AM

My favourite engine bay of all time was looking under the bonnet to see a Rover V8........talking about my Brothers Land Rover Discovery that was killed last year

Such a lovely motor even if we never did get to the bottom of the 'plug fouling'.........I think it was just a need for new rings and that would have been a monster.
