Basically how do I go about turning my engine bay from this

Going to get some decreaser and give it a want to bring the shine back into the metals, going to get the zed in a real show room condition this year! :clap2:

One of the previous owners of my car painted the engine cover, airbox and fuse box cover blue.

Not the best job in the world, but did get me thinking about cleaning it up a bit. then someone mentioned some SS turbo pipes and I got to thinking about it even more.

Good steam clean to start off with I reckon.

i find wd40 works wonders , spray everthing all over and leave 10 mins and a bit if elbow grease comes up good then finish off buy polishing metal work

Heard steam cleaning is not a good idea for the electrics better to decrease it the lightly springle it down then use an air compressor to dry it off.

This is what im abit unsure about dont want to go wrecking any sensors or the ECU!!! :yikes:

ive washed many an engine with the steam cleaner never had an issue, just stay away from the spark plugs as much as possible, and give it a good dry off afterwards then use some dressings on the plastics

keep away from fuseboxes etc when steam cleaning and keep the engine running while you wash helps it dry.

i generally just pressure wash round the outside of the engine bay, look on ebay for a autosmart G101 ( i would sell some but only got a little left and cant be arsed to go and buy some of my supplier lol) use this as it is a really good all purpose cleaner and good on grease and oil, spray neat or 50-50 with water and use a little brush to stimulate the cleaner, then rinse with jet wash or just use a cloth afterwards, then go over all your plastic with a dressing and it will look mint then and use autosol on the aircon pipes, they come up like chrome then

Well just received some Autosmart G101, tyre and trim dressing and their carnauba gold wax all for the total sum of ?20!! So when I get a chance will give it a going over.

not bad price, the carnauba gold isnt that good though and is bloody hard work to get off!!

Really oh well will have to make sure its not too hot a day when I put that on then!

just use very little of the stuff, does give a good shine but just dont last that long, but if you do let it go off for too long then use a damp cloth and go over after with quick detailer

I use WD40, stiff brushes of various sizes, and dishcloths and polishing cloths. Works wonders with elbow grease, plus the added bonus that if you spray it onto connectors etc it does more good than harm!!

I'm a big fan of wd40 for engine bay cleaning too, a few stiff brushes and plenty of cloths and your good to go.
