Our New ZT-T

This is the ZT-T that we've just bought today for £700!!

The only problems with it that i know of at the moment is the noisy inlet manifold and an engine management fault, which is P0155 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1) so any info on that fault would be helpful!

A strange question though, does the Quadcam engine have a cam belt??

Yep one up front and two on the rear of the cams.

To replace will cost near what you paid for the car.

That looks a lot of car for the money,

Alan.F 19-02-12 01:25 PM

same engine as the 180 m8

SheppeyTrio 19-02-12 02:15 PM

Anyone know of a relatively cheap mobile MG man to do the cam belts??

Might need to get the head gasket done aswell?

Dan1971 19-02-12 03:30 PM

For £700 i'd run it into the ground mate and then when the engine goes - if it goes - buy another engine or indeed - break it and buy another whole car !

If the engine has a hgf I would be running it until it dies! Not an easy fix at all. Engine out jobbie really and do the belts, tensioners and thermostat whilst you are at it.

daytona365 19-02-12 05:10 PM

I wouldnt run it into the ground, look after it love it and it will go on for ages..........Why do people want to ruin their cars?????????????????

I would look into that before you go for the head gasket thats very rare on the kv6 . what makes you think it might need a head gasket ?

Got some white gunk in the oil cap but have been told that it's not uncommon to get some gunk from condensation from short journeys? Hopefully that's true! It deffo needs an oil change anyway so will have to see how it goes for now!

peterzs 19-02-12 06:21 PM

Great looking car for the money, sort the niggles out and will be a nice car.

Didnt some one recommend a garage in Southend, British legends. All parts used are genuine XPart or MG rover approved.

Also MJS of Brighton email:- repairs@mjsautomarine.co.uk but these may be K series engine specialists, but worth a call.

Nice one!

Contact Russell of MG Rover Solutions, he is your way and mobile. He did my 180.

tb steve 19-02-12 06:43 PM

this guy is in kent ???

p.s nice motors the zt well built

MG6Turbo 19-02-12 07:00 PM

Unfortunately hgf on the zt is common on the KV6.

I've only found the zs 180 to not suffer hgf. The zt kv6 varies slightly in the zt as it has a different sump, oil cooler and exhaust manifolds and downpipe.

Check the expansion cap as these are weak spots on the zt.

George

SheppeyTrio 19-02-12 07:01 PM

Another strange question, would the ZT-T 190+ be VVC or non-VVC?

Nats Whiskas 19-02-12 07:38 PM

Its a 2.5 litre V6 so its not a 4 pot k-series so no its not a vvc.

SheppeyTrio 20-02-12 05:35 PM

Am i going mad or did someone on this site use to sell painted plenums? I'm thinking that if i need to replace our plenum then i might aswell get a nicely done one!?

Yh, there was some VERY nice two-tone coloured ones! Was thinking something like that in a blue like our seats!

I really can't remember what the ZS plenum looks like? Anyone got a pic or are they literally the same as the ZT-T?

peterzs 20-02-12 08:13 PM

Does this help:-

Boot Hill Bandit 20-02-12 08:25 PM

an ugly untidy engine is the KV6 compared to the Vauxhall V6. I wouldn't bother painting the plenum.......maybe the engine cover though?

Just been quoted £150 + VAT for an inlet manifold. What do people think? A good price or not??

SheppeyTrio 22-02-12 05:06 PM

Still need help/advice on the engine management fault, which is P0155 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1) any info on that fault would be helpful!

Just googgled it mate and it came up with this ....

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0155

Extract -

A code P0155 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

•O2 Heater element resistance is high
•Internal short or open in the heater element
•O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
•open or short to ground in the wiring harness

Possible Solutions
•Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors
•Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)

Taylah has grown, remember when she was just a bump.

That doesnt seem that long ago.

Time flies.

How about asking roverbreakers to throw in a good s/h O2 sensor in the deal!!!!

She sure has!! Gotta get a new T-shirt for her before the meet!! Time flies when your having fun!? It only seems like yesterday she was born!!

Could do, do you think they'd go for it??

Dan1971 22-02-12 06:17 PM

Ask them to guarantee the vis motors on it and £150 ain't bad - vat is another £30 on top though remember - so I'd try to get it for £150 all in.

Think I sold a brand new one for £350 a while back and most of them on the bay go for between £100 and £150 - been looking as my ZS might need one.

MG6Turbo 22-02-12 06:36 PM

Weve been selling inlet manifolds for £100.00 plus delivery.

They arent fetching what they used to, so i would say Roverparts are a bit on the dear side.

I would do a inlet manifold fitted with brand new vis motors for £200.00 plus delivery
