Extreme spoiler in PBT

Hi guys I am after a saloon extreme spoiler in PBT, there's loads on ebay but not in the right colour, trying to save on spraying costs

talkingcars 23-02-14 01:43 PM

I've got one in yellow - nice contrast........

mmmm black and yellow.....bumble bee lol

If one doesn't come up in black soon I may consider the spray option, not sure what cost it would be for complete respray though, probably more than the cost of the spoiler

Would vinyl wrapping be a cheaper alternative?

POMPSKI 24-02-14 05:58 AM

You cant spoiler her! I prided myself on the de-spoiler look :p

What I was thinking - wasn't sure if you were still popping in for a look around and then I look this morning and you're still here.

Oh no the anti spoiler police :police:

I'm sorry guys I keep looking at her and after having the spoiler on my Mk1 I can't help thinking there is something missing.

It's still under consideration at the moment but if one becomes available in PBT I'm not sure I will be able to resist! :sorry:

I am an Essex boy after all, you now what they say 'You can take the boy racer out of Essex but...................'

Now now, that's not very sporting guys, I have sent a message asking if it is PBT or LQW but he doesn't know so I have asked what year MG it came from. I am thinking PBT was only about 2004 onwards, thoughts?

petet16 28-02-14 09:51 AM

If he still has the car, the paint code is on the plate on the passenger B post.

petet16 28-02-14 09:55 AM

PBT was 03 to 05.
LQW was 98 to 04.

So there is some overlap.

Turns out his car was a 54 so I am sure it would be PBT but he bought the spoiler after, I have asked if it was an exact match and if it has the metallic sparkle, fingers crossed.

petet16 28-02-14 09:58 AM

This could be the car it came off http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-MG-ZS...p2047675.l2557

Just had this message from the seller:

Yeah it's an exact match - looked the dogs danglies to be honest!
Yours will be fine then!
If you look very close it sparkles silver&blue?

Sparkles silver and blue? what do you guys think? I know it has a silver sparkle, not sure about the blue?

petet16 28-02-14 10:27 AM

I'd take a risk on it.

Yep agreed, just bought and payed for, the guy is actually coming to Hampshire on Sunday anyway so is gonna take a detour and bring it to my door for an extra tenner, bonus.

Worst case if it is the wrong colour, for the price I paid I will just get it resprayed. Not looking forward to drilling holes in my boot though!!

petet16 28-02-14 10:39 AM

Have no fear, if you look at the seam of sealant where the boot skin is folded around the frame there are marks to show where the holes need to go.

petet16 28-02-14 10:53 AM

A picture of the 3 marks in the sealant.

Thanks Pete, I will have a look at the weekend, jobs are mounting up now, just need some decent weather over a weekend to get them all done.

petet16 28-02-14 11:49 AM

You're right enough about the weather, I've got a small pile of bits, but it needs to warm up a bit before they get fitted.

talkingcars 28-02-14 06:45 PM

Mine has the blue sparkle, it isn't very obvious except in very bright sun.

Might be worth asking if they still have the boot it came off, the car ad showed the boot with the lip spoiler fitted.
