Nuts....
Just a quick silly one.....
Anyone fitted aftermarket wheel nuts they would recommend? Plenty out there but experience tells me there not all that good... Genuine from Rimmer bros are £11 each! Need 8 and think 88 quid is a bit much!! :hmmm: |
Buy a used set off a breaker on eBay bud you'll get a set for under a tenner easy
I have Mazda nuts on my wheels.had them for years and no problems.

^^^this, they are a bit bigger so just mind and have a suitable wheel brace. They are much better as they are solid so don't fall to bits like our standard ones sometimes like to do :) |
Cheers chaps. Any particular model Mazda and when you say bigger presume you mean actual size as opposed to the shoulder size?
Iirc they are 19mm Simon And standard are 17mm?!? I believe any model is fine.
Any nut with a 60 degree taper to fit a M12 x 1.5 will work.
I normally use a 19mm socket on my wheel nuts, the Mazda 6 uses 21mm. There are some options from my ebay search for 19mm 60 M12 1.5 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...2+1.5&_sacat=0 |

Cheers Mark but found some yesterday at a breakers.
Thanks for the offer though |
Love looking up these old threads for information, had a nightmare this morning changing a wheel with nut caps breaking off and tightened too much in my opinion by tyre shop, do you guys use a torque setting and if so what? If this had happened by the road I would of had to call AA so I'm going to change the lot to be safe
You say nut caps? Are these plastic covers? If so these should be removed before placing socket, that’s how it reads in your post, I may be wrong. Nuts are 110Nm.
I've never personally torqued them up properly(only by feel) but now I know the number I will. Don't know what the impact guns are set at the tyre shops use but I've never had to use all my strength to get one undone.
