project zs 260
rite people after goin to the pride of longbridge and seening it for my self my plan to fit a t16 turbo lump to my zs 180 is in planing stages now.
i had been told that this wasnt an easy job to do due to drive shaft issue's and engine mounts but thats not the case. parts need to under take the conversion are as follows 1.bubble shape rover 420 gsi as i need the engine mounts and drive shafts from this 2.rover 220 turbo as i will need the rad, engine, wiring loom, ecu from this then its a case of rebuilding the engine new piston ring bottom end polished / ported head uprated gasket / seals uprated actuator / clucth front mount intercooler new oil pump / water pump adjustable fuel regulator with standard rebuilt turbo running 14psi as once this has been set up i should be running around 250/260 bhp as for the hoses / pipe work i will have to custom make these using silicone hoses and copper pipe all in to do this will cost with full engine rebuild and having the loom rework and set willbe around £2500 to £3000 the plan is to get the parts over the next 18 month and then spend another 18month rebuliding the engine / turbo and having the loom made up before doing the conversion to the zs which will take me no longer than a week |
EMS, carmadbaker and dogsbe being three T16 converters I can think of so far. Good brains to be picking if you ask me.
|
just speak to Aautosport, they do these conversions all the time.

zs 260
cheers guys but the guy i spoke to at the pride of longbridge who had done a t16 zs live 2 miles from me and said would help me with mine as a when needed
|
AA autosports have stopped doing business have they not? There was something on the ZR site about it
These T16 ZS are becoming common as muck lol Good luck with the project. I was supprised why no one has done it sooner after seeing how easily the engine fits in. The electrics are going to be the fun part - the main reason why I opted for stand alone ECU |
Good project, but you won't make 250-260 with a T25.
T28 will give the sort of power you're looking for. |

Was going to say Petet16 is a good one to speak too! lol
What sort of power is yours making Pete? |
Hopefully it'll be going on the rollers shortly, I'd be happy with 235+.
|
Wheeey another convert :-) good lad! With 14 psi mate I would consider some kind of forged pistons, and deffinately don't forget to have the boost cut taken out of the ECU, cause a manor a problems. Give me a shout with any questions dude

zs 260
standard piston will take 15psi as long as you get the fuel right with out problems as long as its the 220/420 engine the 620/820 used dif pistons and are only go for 12psi max my old 220 gsi ran 14psi and never let me down
|
But for the sake of £500 is it worth taking the risk? Seen as it's all apart anyway.
|
agreed, if it's in bits it's daft not to
