Breaking a MG TF

I am about to break a 2002 MG TF 135, most parts are available - do you need anything?

ZS 19-06-16 11:03 PM

Why you breaking it?

ZS Phil 20-06-16 12:38 PM

What color is it?

peterzs 20-06-16 12:42 PM

I am after the subframes and a few other bits for my F.

This particular car has a very sick engine, I suspect a valve or piston ring, it also needs an exhaust and a cat and much welding, both doors and the boot are dented and the roof has damage. The drivers seat has collapsed and it's done 100k.

Weighed in at my local scrap metal dealer, with the gearbox, it should be about £60 so I'd take that.

Most likely Crawley near Gatwick or possibly Horsham.

Ok cool what's problem with engine then is it down on compression

talkingcars 22-06-16 08:15 PM

It is probably head gasket as the header tank is empty, the oil creamy and the exhaust is smoking.

I have no idea how long it was run like this or if there is any further damage but I have heard the engine run for a few moments and it sounds normal.

It is only has scrap value to me so is sold as such.

ZS Phil 22-06-16 08:29 PM

Thanks for the paint code, mine is jrj :(

No that's fair enough I was after one to build up as a spare that was all so I'm happy with that just need to sort collection etc

ZS Phil 25-06-16 07:02 PM

There is a part I need which isn't colour dependant, the black rubber part of the aerial base, the bit that sits against the rear wing. For some reason mine is missing, do you have it and will you sell it me?
Also, bit of a long shot but does it have front mud flaps?

talkingcars 26-06-16 09:56 PM

It has the aerial so you can have the base but no mud flaps I'm afraid.

Ok well I need the aerial part so PM me how much you want for it posted please. Also, does it have fog lights?

talkingcars 27-06-16 05:41 PM

Will do once it's off, sorry, no fogs.

ZS Phil 29-06-16 04:36 PM

Ok :)

ZS Phil 03-07-16 12:29 PM

Any progress?

I made a start yesterday but have to be a little clever as I have to keep it looking normal as long as possible, I did look at the aerial but the whip is stuck and I only had limited tools.

talkingcars 18-09-16 09:10 PM

Quick update (and bump).

I am only getting a couple of hours a month on this so it is slow progress.

So far I've almost stripped the interior.
