Mk2 Saloon vs Hatchback

Opinions sought pls ... which one would you get and why ....
Was fancying a Saloon ... but this has popped up

ZS 23-11-12 10:47 AM

Personally I prefer the Saloon (for reasons stated in other posts) but that is a very nice example of a MK2 hatch! Even I'd be tempted... (MK2 Hatch is so much better than MK1 hatch in my opinion)

If you go to the General forum on page 8 there is a large post on Hatch V Saloon

PS. Hatch every time

Good advert (someone certainly has the gift of the gab) but as said before, age-old discussion!
Personally I would say buy Chaz's derv hatchback, because other than the engine there isn't a single thing that you'll find in that 180 that can't be found in scrapyards and retro-fitted. Then with the combined purchase costs and ongoing running costs, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

PS Ditto

I would say buy Chaz's derv hatchback - where is this advertised?

Enright 23-11-12 11:44 AM

Not sure if it IS advertised anymore, but see here for where he was trying to find out what to put it up for: http://www.themgzs.co.uk/vb/showthre...=23213&page=11

I really like the saloon with extreme spoiler.
I brought a hatch because our buggy would not of fitted into the saloon.

IMO saloon looks better but hatch is more pratical when you have a baby.

I have two kids... never ever had a problem with practicality on either of my saloons... I had more problems with buggies etc when I had the hatch... the saloon was, and still is, more practicable for me :)

Love the advert, lots of nonsense facts, and incorrect spec., anyway digressing, saloon for me, no reason!

petet16 23-11-12 01:01 PM

That's a very nice ZS, plenty of bs in the advert, good to see plenty of pictures of a car that is clean inside and out, some history, cambelts done, I prefer saloons personally, but it is a good spec.

Dan1971 23-11-12 01:06 PM

It's a nice car for sure and well written up advert. You'd get that for 2K.

You make your own decisions on the hatch v saloon thing though. I've had mk1 saloon and hatch and mk 2 hatch and saloons. Love them all .....

andys1981 23-11-12 06:21 PM

saloon all the way, just dont like the back end of the hatches

daytona365 23-11-12 06:59 PM

Saloon with me, you just got to love the extreme spoiler........plus it looks like the BTCC car.................

Smokey 23-11-12 07:01 PM

Saloon. Had 5 saloons and no
hatches for a reason! Only ones
I've seen that I liked we're mk2s on yellow or black

DannyZR 23-11-12 08:09 PM

My dads had both and the saloon won for me in orange :D

welshone 23-11-12 08:20 PM

For looks it's got to be the saloon but it's not very practical even though it's got a massive boot :(

WalkerDnB 23-11-12 08:52 PM

For practicality its a hatch
For looks its Saloons although there are some very nice looking hatchbacks on here :)
