First to go are the wipers, they just smear everything! So flat blades on front and normal replacement rear..... Next a ruddy good clean and polish and valet inside! Also polish the wheels so the shine again!

theboynoz 27-10-11 08:10 PM

Oh.... And a set of black badges with a silver MG outline! Hopefully they will look tasteful!

stamford 28-10-11 07:16 AM

Got a sunroof too, looks very nice. TB always cleans up well.

Enright 28-10-11 07:34 AM

Re the windscreen wipers, have you tried Rain-X? Most car accessory shops sell it, and I swear by the stuff.
When freshly applied you don't need wipers above 30mph, and on the odd occasion that you do use them it makes their travel much smoother. That might eliminate the smearing for less cost.
Re the badges, I think you're right and it will look tasteful. If you go to theMGZR.co.uk then there's a guy on there who goes by the name Dazzer who produces custom badges. I've had a rear Mk2 MG one off him (which is oooge!) and it looks better than OEM.

ZS-GIXER 28-10-11 03:23 PM

Looks very nice mate, I'll keep an eye out for you driving round Notts

Bobdope2002 28-10-11 03:38 PM

your a chav for driving a MK 1 ZS well i never theyres a few Chavs on here then were gonna be as worse as the ZR crew Woop Woop

Ritchy 28-10-11 04:04 PM

looks smart v6 skirts, fogs, and itll look awesome and lower it a bit:D thats all id do to a mk1 if i had one i think

peterzs 28-10-11 04:27 PM

Cars looking good, got Aero flat wipers on mine.

Best thing I ever changed, had new Bosch wipers, rubbish all streaks. Put the Aero's on and streak free, clear screen.

theboynoz 28-10-11 07:14 PM

Well like I say, no real mods, just subtle changes and keeping it tidy and more importantly keeping it running lol.

Flat blades on.

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...0-28172159.jpg

Quick Wash, still wants claybarred and polished etc

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...0-28172208.jpg

Also fitted the first badge to the front, a black background with silver edges so i need to get a pic of those.

tinyszs 28-10-11 08:03 PM

Looking sweet mate

zsserbia 28-10-11 11:04 PM

Looking good, we all love to see a ZS receiving some love :lovers:

theboynoz 29-10-11 07:29 PM

Righto, decided i have already had enough of the 6 disc changer and tape (yes TAPE) head unit! But i also decided to remove it properly so i can let someone else get some use out of it..... This meant removing trim :) my favourite pastime!

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...0-29144110.jpg

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...0-29144115.jpg

Whilst it was apart i figured i should at least clean it there too.... lol

When i get a weekend free again i may have to strip most of the interior and fully valet the car, then i will be happy....

theboynoz 30-10-11 07:57 PM

I fitted both badges (just stickers really) as the old ones were sun faded.

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...0-30160005.jpg

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...0-30155951.jpg

I think I might get some domed badges made in the same style....

Fitted, at last, the iPod head unit with the iPod hidden inside the dash, for now.....

Dan1971 30-10-11 08:11 PM

Good job with the badges mate - and welcome to the forum.

theboynoz 30-10-11 08:19 PM

Thanks dude, just testing the water so to speak with the badges, and as i like em i am asking a guy i know to make some up for me, he has done a lot of decals in the past for me and his work is fantastic.

theboynoz 05-11-11 08:48 PM

The ZS is back at the garage to get that good old handbrake fixed and I also seem to have acquired a bloody flat nearside rear! Damn.

Although I may be getting a proper job done on the body by a mate that normally valets cars like Rolls Royce's etc and at ?30 I think i have a good deal!!?

Taphouse 06-11-11 07:19 AM

Top work, its all about the little touches. Looks great!

mg zs waz 29-11-11 11:18 PM

Really nice car there mate

theboynoz 01-12-11 07:09 PM

cheers, should have some new centre caps for the wheels soon and some (slightly tacky?) dust caps too with new MG logos in them.....Then it should be a case of keeping her clean and tidy till i can afford the wheel refurb next year.

peterzs 01-12-11 08:22 PM

Hope the dust caps arnt the cheap ones off ebay!!!

I bought some when I first got mine, was warned that you needed stainless ones or they would rust on. I put a bit of grease on the threads and it wasnt till one of the tyres looked a bit soft and I went to check the pressure, that I thought any more about them. (I know you should check weekly/monthly, but....)

The caps were well and truly stuck on, in the end I used mole grips to hold the valve and a spanner on the valve cap. Took quite a bit of effort to get them off.

Back to plastic dust caps now.

They did look good though.

;);)

Dav 02-12-11 09:59 AM

Like the look of the badges, subtle :-)

And a £30 valet? Sign me up lol!!

Yeah i think they are proper ones, they are the so called anti theft Richbrook ones....

And that Valet might not happen now, bit skint until after X-Mas now, better get my cloths and cleaning gear out before it snows!

Think I will also be getting the badges made properley too as they have grown on me and I agree they are quite subtle.... Can let everyone know if they turn out ok and where i got them

theboynoz 05-12-11 09:27 PM

Had a quick go at Photoshop again...... Think i need to take a refresher course

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...edDeTangod.jpg

Removed the aerial, smoothed the side repeater, lowered, de tango'd the front lights.....

ZS Phil 05-12-11 10:13 PM

Cant beat a slammed ZS! Then again I am slightly biased :D. Looks like you have an awesome base to work from anyway.

around corners- frankly you would have to be driving like a sphinctor on public roads in order for the difference to come into its own. Im not convinced lowering will upset the handling unless the road is very bumpy.

over speed bumps- Im yet to scrape on one.

in multi-storey car parks- No problem.

Down country lanes- Ill give you that one but most of the time Im on A roads / the m6.

Insurance premium- Extra £30 per year so not too fussed.

Only real problem I have is a small amount of rubbing on full lock but that will be sorted when I roll the arches and make a custom arch liner.

Thing that wins it for me is simply the looks , just look at it ^^^^

theboynoz 13-12-11 09:49 PM

To be honest i am pretty chuffed with how it handles, even on the accelera tyres it is a damn site better than the KA and even the old 106 quiksilver i had..... But the MK2 XR2 is still the best although i did drop that 60mm. Not going to do owt to this one if i can help it, just keep it tidy and running sweet! lol

theboynoz 11-05-12 08:26 PM

Righto, so the mods have been subtle and so far only done the Induction kit (Green) and replaced the sh1te tyres with some Falkens.... They'll do, also had all four wheels treated as two had lost air, one as i started going round a roundabout, sideways!!

Next on the hit list is the brakes, the woefull pi55 poor excuse for brakes that i have on this car......They are being replaced with some Brembos tomorrow, weather permitting, but ONLY the discs and pads, not the calipers (shame!).

Next up, domed badges in the style of the stickers i have fitted and I will find and fix the small leak in the boot....Maybe a zr160 throttle body to see what happens. Then wash it, use some G3 (or similar), polish, and some genral TLC.

A few from Feb.....

ZS Phil 11-05-12 09:46 PM

Looking good, plans sound good too.

theboynoz 12-05-12 08:15 AM

Also replaced the rad, as it had several holes in it, with a Nissens Rad. Sorted that out.

theboynoz 12-05-12 09:23 PM

Update:

The mystical box......

The Tools....

The Parts, from the box....

The Persuaders....

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSC01415.jpg

I know these do't look too bad, but the noise and lack of stopping power forced my hand!

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSC01438.jpg

Done!

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSC01450.jpg

theboynoz 12-05-12 09:28 PM

Oh yeah, the cost.... Not sure if anyone else has done the Brembo disc/pad job yet, but this has cost £120 front and rear all in!

Fitted by me.

Needed a new tool (caliper wind back tool) £26 on trade and disc cleaner £4, ran out you see....

£150 total

Local (trusted) garage want that to supply and fit rear brakes only..... No brainer then isn't it?! Lol

Next up is the domed MG badges, custom made for me, but may be able to sort out more if these look good and there is interest..... Will check with the site owners first though.

andy-81 13-05-12 02:36 AM

looks good mate bit ocd on the cleaning parts lol

theboynoz 13-05-12 04:01 PM

Not gone OCD enough in my opinion lol, I used to spend entire weekends cleaning inside the wheel arches and under the bonet!!! Not so much since I became a dad though! lol

peterzs 13-05-12 05:02 PM

Looking good, have to let us know how they stop, after bedding in for a bit!!!

theboynoz 13-05-12 05:54 PM

Will do, my mate has a set on his Accord and they stop it very well! Will be interested to see how I find them, especially as they will be on front and back....

On a seperate note do you know who to contact about promoting the domed badges, is it you Pete? as I should have mine finished soon and on the car next week. I'll take some pics and post them asap too.

Lukeus101 13-05-12 06:08 PM

Speak to Dazzer on here mate. Does a lot of good work at very good prices. Runs a company called Locking Vinyl :)

peterzs 13-05-12 07:37 PM

As Luke says, Dazzer, or Locking Vinyl does our site stickers and will do the ZS badges.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

theboynoz 13-05-12 07:53 PM

Right, I have heard of this guy and the company but I have already got some domed badges on the way from a different source and just wanted to see if I can prmote this guy or if I would be stepping on anyones toes? Obviously I do not want to just start a thread going on about badges and stickers etc, so thought I should run it past site owers such as Pete.

Does Dazzer also do the domed style badges do you know? Think i might check his stuff out again.... thanks
